I just looked at the updated info. on http://www.homelandsecurityus.com and it was quite frightening the way they put it together.

What is going on?

If they have something specific and credible that is one thing... but if they are trying to frighten people that isn't funny.

I know that Johnathan. It has been fairly reliable in recent weeks however. A lot of it is just hearsay I imagine.

exactly what I mean John... the quote from Congressman Shays who is saying he wouldn't go out tonight, the scary pictures, and the Arabic writing. That all combines to be frightening... at least to me. I am not one who jumps on the doomsday bandwagon, but I want information not just ominous looking web pages.

Actually, the site is pretty reliable. Scary, yes, but the man is pretty reliable. He doesn't want to scare people, but feels the government doesn't give us enough information. He also has uncovered quite a few leads for the government himself.

Yet all we're hearing from the networks is "cities on high alert". It's like they're waiting for something to happen almost.

It could all just be people to scare the bajeezers out of us.. But I'll be paying close attention, that's for sure..

I'm still very concerned that they could have something planned for a major sporting event. The UK-Michigan basketball game had a record 78,000+ fans in attendance. That doesn't include concessions and ticketing staff, security, coaches, players, journalists, and so forth. Imagine that many potential victims packed together in one targetable arena? :o

Times Square will be pretty crowded tonight also, but it will be out in open air. Not sure if they'd prefer to attack where exits are limited (like inside an arena) or what. But if I wanted to kill a large amount of people (of course, I don't, but a writer has to have an imagination), I'd target a sporting event with a massive crowd. It would be an easier way to target alot of victims -- and even worse, if it were broadcast on TV, many others would be traumatized to see it happen live.

LOL, John! You mean you can't read Arabic? Actually, would it be Farsi? I thought Iraqis spoke Farsi. But they look alike and I still don't understand either. *shrugs*

Uh, Farsi (or Parsis, from the ancient Persian capital, Persepolis) is spoken in Iran; however, all Muslims have to have a working knowledge of Arabic, since the Q'u'ran and Sha'ari'a ar written in that language...and it is forbidden to translate it into a tongue other than Arabic under Islamic law.

This explains the prevalence of Arabic on those websites.

I think he's posting the same type of updates over at WWBB under another name.

FIRST OF ALL: That site is not the official Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) website; it is a HYPE website that prey off people's fears. Do not buy into that type of manipulation. That is EXACTLY WHY DHS is not posting that type of stuff; they don't want people going off the edge and freaking out. For the most part, the only things you or I can do is 'be aware' of really wacky behaviour. These terror alerts are mostly for Law Enforcement and those involved with security, and right now just keep the public informed of the general condition regarding what's up. Security people have already gone into 'high-alert mode' and are the front guys who take care of the local, state and national issues. It doesn't make any difference if you jump up & down or not - those guys are handling it all, not the general public. Relax. If you can't relax then you don't have any confidence in our local/state/National security people. Is that the case?

SECOND OF ALL: The threat is mostly overseas, that is correct. Today there was a bombing over in Baghdad. Expected. There are likely to be additional incidents in all the countries previously mentioned. OK, we already know that. Relax. We're not there. The main concern in the States of any type of attack are already being handled by all types of security officials and those that work in the field. Let them do their jobs. Posting and propogating a bunch of rehashed, old-news and twisted information is called p-r-o-p-o-g-a-n-d-a. Let the people who know what they're doing do their jobs under the radar. All of this wolf-crying hype only makes the situation worse for the people really trying to thwart the actual threats. If you want up-to-the minute details, tune into Fox or CNN, whichever you prefer. Don't you think the Feds already know and monitor all of these websites, along with every piece of electronic communication that spews over fiber, satellite or in the atmosphere? Don't you think they share intel with all the other agencies both in/out and with other countries? The hand-wringing 'o-dear, o-dears' won't stop another attack, nor will it help prevent one. Just be cool and enjoy the Holiday.

Happy New Year :Bcool:
