A list of Democratic Conspiracy theorys (sorry Steph)

#1 Postby j » Thu Dec 18, 2003 12:02 pm

This is from Ralph Bristow's Daily Dispatch. Read, smile, and enjoy:

I'm making a list and checking it twice. I suspect I'll be checking it frequently between now and November next year. If the first few entries on the list are any indication, this is going to be fun to watch. I'll keep the list posted and updated for your convenience. If I miss something, be sure to bring it to my attention, so I can update the list.

The List, as it shall be known for simplicity's sake, is a catalogue of Democrat conspiracy theories to explain events that may or may not help President Bush politically in the 2004 election season.

We'll register the theories in ascending order, from the oldest to the newest, beginning with our old friend Teddy Kennedy.

1. September, 2003 -- Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts said that the Iraq war was "made up in Texas." The Bush administration "announced in January to the Republican leadership that the war was going to take place and was going to be good politically," Mr. Kennedy said. "The whole thing was a fraud."

By the way, on the subject of Senator Kennedy, did you see the quote that earned the coveted title of Quote of the Year by the Media Research Center? Charles Pierce, in a January 5 Boston Globe Magazine article, said, "If she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age." Kopechne is the women who drowned while trapped in Kennedy's submerged car off Chappaquiddick Island in July 1969, an accident Kennedy failed to report for several hours. But I digress. Back to The List.

2. Dec 1, 2003 -- In an interview on National Public Radio, Howard Dean said (of 9-11) "The most interesting theory that I have heard so far is that he was warned ahead of time by the Saudis." Asked if he had reconsidered the remark six days later on "Fox News Sunday," Mr. Dean said that "we don't know" whether the theory is true or not.

3. Dec. 15, 2003 -- Rep. Jim McDermott of Washington told KIRO-AM Radio in Seattle that the U.S. military could have found former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein "a long time ago if they wanted." Asked by host Dave Ross if he was saying that he thought the capture was timed to help Bush politically, McDermott said, "Yeah. Oh, yeah.there's too much by happenstance for it to be just a coincidental thing."

4. Dec. 16 - Madeline Albright, former Clinton Secretary of State said to Morton Kondracke in the green room of Fox News, while waiting to be interviewed by Bill O'Reilly, "Do you suppose that the Bush administration has Usama bin Laden hidden away somewhere and will bring him out before the election?" Albright insists she was only kidding, but everyone in the room with her said there was no smile on her face, no chuckling of any sort, and she appeared at the time to be quite serious.

5. Dec. 17, 2003 - Donna Brazile, who ran Al Gore's presidential campaign in 2000, was portrayed as trying to discourage comments such as those made by Mrs. Albright and Mr. Dean and Mr. McDermott, saying they have "no place in our dialogue on this very serious issue. But, in the next breath, she offered credibility to Dean by saying, "I think most Americans have some lingering doubts about what happened on September 11, but until the commission and Congress completes its investigation, I think it best if people hold these views to themselves."

At some time, we may have to edit The List to keep it from becoming to long and unmanageable. Donna Brazile's comment, for instance, may have to make way for others that are more entertaining. You'll always be able to find an updated "The List" in the Daily Dispatch archives of RalphBristol.com.

Feel free to refer to it as often as necessary. If you have something you think should qualify as an entry, forward it to me.
