Drive into Trinity River ends car chase

FORT WORTH, Texas - Two auto burglary suspects led police on a car chase over the weekend that ended with themselves and the sport utility vehicle they were in dunked in the Trinity River.

The men, who were identified by officers as Rigo Rivera, 23, and Robert Stevens, 22, were arrested in connection with the chase Saturday night and were in a warm, dry cell at the Mansfield Jail on Sunday night.

Police believe that Rivera, 23, was the driver and that Stevens, 22, was the passenger, said Lt. Jesse Hernandez, a Fort Worth police spokesman.
