Falken Tires!

My husband is a faithful subsriber to Consumer Report's. He HAS to consult it before any major purchase. And so my 98 Honda Civic is due for new tires (46,000 miles, I know that's low for a 5 year old car!). After thoroughly reading the Nov. 2003 issue's tire article, it came down to one brand for price and what I want, and it was the highest ratest tire (good traction in wet wx, my Firestone's were just lousy in that department, don't want them again).

But man oh man, trying to find Falken tires took 2 days and lots of phone calls!

I finally found an independent dealer (after all the Sears stores were sold out) and they're due in today.

But I have to say my family has been having a heyday with this tire name - say it fast and you'll know what we mean. And each time we'd ask - do you carry Falken tires - we were corrected in pronunciation. Laura went to school and blurted out - yeah, my mom has been calling all around trying to find Falken tires - and the teacher did a double take - what did you just say Laura? LOL

Anyone hear of these or better yet, buy them? Again, my original tires were awful in snow so I'm really excited to get them. And you can't beat the price, out the door for 4 tires, it's only $320.

Ed - LOL

Somehow I knew you'd be responding.

I swear eachtime we'd ask that question, we just about peed our pants, it was hard to stay serious. Our daughter was nearby doing her homework, that's why she went to school and told them all. She'll probably get an F!

Thanks Duck - did just that. It was down to one Sears, a 45 minute drive from my home. He had 4 but they were on reserve (that customer is coming in Saturday for them). So in all of our Sears stores, there was only one set! Now there was one lone tire at a Sears store. Now how is one going to help me? Maybe I should buy a unicycle? LOL

Then I was told they're on backorder from the company and Sears can't place any orders right now.

Next it was down to our #2 choice. I had to order those too, but they come in a day usually.

Finally, as I was talking to the place I settled on, and he was about to order our #2 choice, he offered a tire they have in stock. I said no you don't understand.....my husband swears by Consumer Report's. LOL The guy chuckled. I then said - we really wanted these tires called Falken. He said he carries them and it took only a day to get them in. And I got a call a little while ago, they're in. I'm getting them on Friday am just before the snow flies.

Now why can't a Sears store order these? Strange. I was told Sears and Falken had a falling out.

I don't care - I just want good tires!!!

Such a long story and all because I need tires.

Thanks for trying Duck!
