Dish Washer, hand washer?

Do you own a dishwasher or do you wash dishes by hand? When we ordered this new house, I wanted a dish washer, Michelle didn't want one(NO........I'm NOT the built in one either "LOL!") To me, a dish washer is a waste of time and water, I mean, you have scrub the plates by hand to remove the hard stuff that the dish washer doesn't take off, right? So what's the point??

OMG, I certainly own a dishwasher and guess what I do not have to rinse the plates, etc. it has a food catcher in it takes care of all of it I just scrape the plates and stick em in, they come out clean clean clean and sanitized

Wash by hand??? You must think I do housework! LOL

Dishwasher all the way...put them dirty...they come out clean. Now if I could just get my daughter to put the clean dishes away!

LOL!

Just me around here - I DO have a dishwasher, but,
when it's just my dishes - I am the dishwasher - a few
cups, a glass, a small plate....I can handle that. But, a
big Sunday dinner or Holiday meal - I put 'em in that
blessed dishwasher!

Exactly!! Our hands can't take the intensely hot water and heat that the dishwasher uses to get them REALLY clean. I had a dishwasher until I moved earlier this year. That's one of the things I miss, besides central heat/AC.

But like Breeze, it's just me so it doesn't take much to wash the few dishes I use.

DISHWASHER! I hate doing dishes even with a dishwasher! Loading it isn't so bad...but puting the dishes away...I cringe just thinking about it! LOL

I have a dishwasher but hardly ever use it. When I wash them by hand I KNOW they are clean.

I do it both ways. We have a Hotpoint dishwasher for the plates/glasses, and the pots are done "up top"...by "yours truly".

My parents and I have a dishwasher. The dishes should be rinsed before putting them in, especially when the food that was on them gets caked on.

We wash by hand (as a family)

Growing up that's how I did it. My wife was "better off" and had a dishwasher. We did the dishes happily, she and her sister would fight over who would have to load and put the clean dishes away.

A dishwasher for everything but the pots and pans. And being as it is just my wife and I who live in our house, we probably only run the dishwasher once a week.

By hand.
We have a deal: She cooks, I do dishes.
I cook, I do dishes.

Whoa Ed! So she doesn't do dishes at all? You two sound like my next door neighbors! The wife actually asked me if we have that arrangement. If I cook, he does the dishes. Vice/versa. I laughed myself sillly and then could tell I hit a nerve. I told her I'm lucky if he carries his plate over to the sink!

In my first marriage, we didn't have a DW. We had an old Arts and Crafts bungalow. Cute house but old. So no DW. No A/C either. I didn't seem to mind doing dishes come to think of it. No big deal.

I was taught to clean up as I cook. So at the end all you have are the dishes you've eaten with. Must be why I can go either way - if you leave every dish until the meal is over, it's a huge job.
