Electric or Blades?

After reading Jen's comment on the whole messy shave business (lol Chad sorry!) I think I will get hubby an electric shaver for christmas... but I would like to know how they stack up against razor blades.
Do they give as close a shave or not? Which brand do you use?

I use electric...used to use an ordinary razor...but it takes less time and there's less risk of knicks while taking care of the stubble. :)

Shaving cream and blades these days. I have a couple of Norelco's in the drawer...all charged up and ready to go, but the blades do a better job without putting fire on my neck.

Besides, I'm the first one up every day and blades are quieter.

I have never used an electric razor in the 17 years that I have been shaving regularly. The blades give me a very close shave.

I use the Mach 3 turbo and its pretty good, but do those electric ones work well on making close shaves, IE for trimming or making thin sideburns or gotees/mustaches?

thanks in advance.

Shaving? I haven't shaved in 12 years. But I do keep it trim and tidy.

An electric won't give me the clean definition I want around my beard...I use Schick with a disposable triple head, and Edge gel (thousands of Marines can't be wrong!!!)

I use a razor. I used to use an electric, problem was down at the bottom my neck I used to irritate it badly because it wouldn't cut there so well. The blade does a better job.

Hey Bill, now they have a 4-blade unit out. Might want to give that a try. :P

I'm using a twin. The only difference between a close shave and a not-so-close-shave is about 4 hours.

I heard that the electromagnetic waves from electric shavers can give you brain damage.

Just what I need is another chance (extra blade) to cut the hell out of myself... Call me "Captain Blood" immediately after shaving!

I tried using an electric shaver a couple times and nothing really comes off my face.

I use disposable razors, but there is an area on my chin that for some reason doesn't come off. Luckily the hair on my chin doesn't grow too fast, so I can get most of it off every few days.

I guess you can say I don't know how to shave. :-?

Mach 3 for me too. Got one free in the mail a year ago and have used it ever since. Tried an electric once, kept pulling the hairs and iritating my skin so I gave those up.
Can't help but laugh when I think back when my brother thought you were supposed to use shaving cream with an electric, man was that funny.

Mach 3 Turbo with edge pro gel here too. Tried the disposable three blade razor from Gillette, not bad but I think that I will stick with the MACH 3
