France Warns Iraq War Would Divide World

#1 Postby bfez1 » Wed Feb 26, 2003 12:09 pm

In an impassioned appeal Wednesday, French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin warned that waging war against Iraq now without exhausting all peaceful means for disarming Saddam Hussein would split the international community and "be perceived as precipitous and illegitimate." Addressing a debate on the Iraq crisis in the French parliament, Raffarin said France remains committed to continued and strengthened weapons inspections in Iraq.

Well, from the developments today, it looks like Mexico is trending more our way and Russia and China may not veto the resolution. The only country that would be dividing the international community would be France. I think that Iraq stating that they would not destroy those missles that can reach further than the 96 mile limit imposed on them has done them in. If they do abide by the demand and the inspectors witness every missle being destroyed, then you'll have the countries that have been against a war from day one will probably not support a war again. I say we probably should go to war if Iraq will resist destroying those missles. That's open defiance!

I couldn't agree more Stephanie. Failure to destroy those missiles is flagrant defiance of the UN resolution.

If the other countries vote with us or at least obstain then France is the isolated country. So sad.....

It WOULD divide the World-between Winners and Losers with the Frogs lodged firmly in the LOSER column like they have been since May 10,1940.

Maybe we could just annex France while we have so many troops in the region. :?:  :?: Obviously they can't run their own country and we've already taken it twice... from the Germans who didn't have any problems taking it from the French either time :D

Maybe we could rename the wine country to California East.....

Hey, then we would have American Fries, American Mustard.... think of the possibilities!
