FORT WORTH, Texas - A 36-year-old nurse was arrested Thursday, accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a disabled patient at Huguley Memorial Medical Center.
Kenneth W. Downs surrendered at the Tarrant County Jail on a warrant accusing him of aggravated sexual assault of a disabled person. He was quickly released on $10,000 bail.
Police began investigating Downs after a patient who had been admitted to the hospital for a stroke reported to her daughter that a male nurse had had sexual contact with her.
Downs declined to comment Thursday afternoon and referred questions to his attorney, Brad Clark of Fort Worth.
"I'm sure once an investigation has been completed that he'll be vindicated and cleared of these charges," Clark said.
