Stephanie, you asked

#1 Postby coriolis » Tue Nov 11, 2003 9:10 pm

what's a quark?

In the latest theory's of physics, they are the subcomponents of protons, neutrons, electrons, and the other sub-atomic particles. It gets pretty hairy, trying to understand it.

so the correct answer to "got quarks?" is "yes, lots of 'em"

LOL! Thanks Ed! I thought I heard of the word "quark" but I had no idea what it meant. Plus, I just had to ask about your signature!!

Isn't it also the name of a character in one of the Star Trek shows?

LOL! Ok, just thought that may have been where you heard the word. I'm not a Trekkie so I don't remember which one it was from. :)

I am not a Star Trek fan, either. However I do know that "Quark" was a character in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Two of my brothers were/are interested in the Star Trek series.

Yes, Star Trek Deep Space 9. He is the little short, alien looking guy with the big pointy ears and he is obessed with making money and also runs a bar.

You're welcome, Stephanie.

That's right, Mary. He had/has huge ears. :D The drink he served at his bar was blue, if I am not mistaken. i believe it's called Romulan Ale...
