I had a flu shot on October 16th...so far so good here. I eat a yogurt every day, too, and the cultures in it seem to help me fend off a cold.
For those who have a cold, I've heard that the over-the-counter Zicam helps to relieve symptoms.
You and your kids are in my prayers and thoughts, stormy.

Stormy - i had it. It lasted 7 days for me until I went to the doctor. I took a flu shot last weekend and like Skywatch says Zicam is very good if you treating it with overthecounter medications.

I had the upset stomach kind twice lately but with body aches like the flu. Mine came right after the flu shot, as it always does. One year I told the flu shot, as usual, and I still had the flu---twice. Talk about sick..... :-?

I've had the perpetual hacking cough for two weeks. I feel your pain.

I had it back in September and I felt like I was hit by a train. I hadn't felt that bad for a while. My doctor prescribed to me an antibiotic. I'd say it took be a week before I felt 100% and it was weeks after that before my cough went away. Good luck and get plenty of rest if you can!

I've been fortunate enough not to have it (knock on wood), but the schools here have been hit really hard with lots of absences due to the flu. I may go get a flu shot when I get a chance later this week.

I've never had the flu and rarely get sick. The colds I do get usually don't last too long.
I have on and off symptoms that seem like I am sick, but they are apparently allergies... as they last about a day or two and I may feel sick, but it is either one of my very fast colds or most likely something in the air. I understand ragweed was/is running high lately.

Tom, I thought I had allergies when I lived up north but they are nothing compared to what it's like down here in Florida. I get the most horrible headaches and can feel the pressure under by eyes and on either side of my nose - I finally went to an allergist because his advertisement said "sinus", too, and I figured I just had a sinus infection. He did that patch test on me - the one where they prick each arm about 36 times each one with various molds, mildews, etc. I was allergic to just about everything - palm trees, oak trees, grass, citrus trees, mold, mildew, dander, you name it.
Well, I took injections for a year, along with nasal sprays and allegra and still nothing has helped these headaches that I get from it. Funny part it, this is the time of year I'm the worse - not the spring when I would expect everything to bud and bloom. Maybe I should move to Alaska?
Hope everyone out there who has the cold/flu/and allergies get some quick relief and feel better soon.

I was sick with the crud before halloween, when I was working on my daughter's and grandson's Halloween costumes. Made the job a tough one when it should have been an easy one.

EXACTLY! If you have to cough, then cough though because you don't want it to turn to pneumonia either! I hope you feel better soon!

I got sick end of September/beginning of October, and it was the pits! There have been a few days where I thought I was getting sick again, but I have managed to hold it off, so I'll keep my fingers crossed as well!!
I, too, am an allergy sufferer! (Just don't know what the allergen is!!) I am fine this time of year though!
