DALLAS, Texas -- Eyewitnesses -- some of them children -- said two attackers shot a man pushing his ice cream cart in the 3000 block of Falls Drive in Oak Cliff.
An intense search for the attackers was underway Monday night across southeast Dallas. Police said the 28-year-old ice cream vendor, Francisco "Pancho" Badillo, was gunned down while selling ice cream to children a few blocks away from their elementary school. Witnesses said Badillo was apparently trying to fend off a robber when the shots were fired.
Police said the men were in a dark-color -- possibly black -- Honda Civic.
The murder sent a chill through the tight-knit Oak Cliff community where Pancho was a part of the neighborhood, selling ice cream there for years.
