The basic premise of alternate power source is admirable, but not from reflected light from the moon. High-energy source is what we need and no extra Sat birds have to be designed, tested, built, then launched, tested again and protected against some yahoo trying to bump them out of service and inflict even more pain on our infrastructure. This theory is just not cost-effective. It's far more judicious and feasible - and DOable now - to build solar collectors on the earth with all earth-based infrastructure. Let the sun do it's thing now, don't wait. We could implement this right here, right now, except for the powerful Energy Lobby's in Washington to keep out solar. If it's all free, how can anyone make money??! (you see where I'm going here). The best thing to do is wire your current house for solar, with the max-efficient collectors which are somewhat more expensive, then store it in batteries in the house (seen this done and it's way cool), then sell any excess back to your electric companies. Your meter will actually run "backwards". Now they've done many studies across the U.S. and there are far more areas that can make use of solar than you would believe. Southeast, South, West, Southwest. The Great Lakes/Midwest have different designs that are better adapted to their climates/weather, so really anyone can make use of solar power now.

Sorry I'm late, but this has to be a joke. If these energy beams are "restricted to 20% of the intensity of the noontime sun", why not point the receivers at the sun and get 5X the energy!
They're going to send automated machines to the moon to make the facilities out of lunar dust? Give me a break.
