DALLAS, Texas -- The Dallas medical examiner Wednesday identified two bodies found inside a car wreck near Interstate 30 and Ferguson Tuesday afternoon.
Officials said the deaths of Larry Burnett Harris and Dearmon Bell were accidental.
The pair's bodies were found badly decomposed.
After receiving reports from motorists who had noticed the wreck, a recovery crew arrived at the scene and removed the mangled car from the creek bed.
Officials removed the roof of the car to free the bodies.
Investigators said that the car likely wound up in the creek bed as the result of a traffic accident.
Sgt. Gary Kirkpatrick said the crash began when the car hit a light post located at the scene.
"You can see skid marks right here. The vehicle proceeded down the embankment and into the creek, where it has been setting, " Kirkpatrick said. "It has probably been setting for weeks."
