Duct tape comes in handy when you are working with UWGB Habitat for Humanity. If carpenters glue doesn't work, then duct tape it! My friends have 1001 uses of Duct Tape calendars, books, etc...the stories are pretty funny!

I thought everybody used duct tape to repair everything... :o

...you mean, some people had to go BUY some???

LoL...

 Bubble gum works well too!!

Anyway, wouldn't you also have to wrap your chimney and seal off all of your air vents in order to really protect yourself from inhaling biochemicals? You would also need to shut off your heating/airconditioning system so the air from the outside wouldn't come in. I guess that would be okay for the short-term, but in the long run, people could then die from the cold or heat.

They said if the plastic sheets and duct tape really worked you would run out of oxygen and die. There is no way duct tape and plastic sheets can do anything. Hehe well this was a post about bioterror alerts...but hey superglue is great too ;)

That's what I thought too JQ.

As the Homeland Security Office gets out of it's infancy stages, hopefully it'll provide information as to what that duct tape and plastic sheeting would really be useful for. It really shouldn't directpeople to stock up on supplies like that without giving instructions as to what to use it for (at least well thought out instructions).

I always have plastic sheeting and duct tape on hand anyway. If there's some danger I'll just wrap all the family members individually. Doing myself at the end would be a challenge, though.

Actually Stephanie, there is more detailed information at http://ready.gov/

I don't think the duct tape and plastic sheeting were suggested for long term survival. You would run out of oxygen eventually, but in the event of certain attacks and if sealed properly, it would protect you for several hours before you ran out of oxygen. By then, the biggest threat may have subsided.

I think you would need to have your plastic sheeting cut and ready to go to make sure you can get it sealed in time. I doubt too many people are actually taking these precautions. We may be sorry later though. :o

Thanks southerngale! I bookmarked that site. It has alot of basic, useful information about what you do to protect yourself in a biological threat, chemical threat, etc.

Ha-Ha! Coriolis - remember that silly 80's song about "Shiney Happy

You're welcome Stephanie.

I read some of it, but I guess I should really spend a little more time there. It could come in handy. :o
