Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland filed for divorce from his wife, Mary, on Tuesday (October 14), according to the Associated Press. The couple married in May of 2000 and separated in September of 2002. Mary Weiland filed for divorce shortly after their separation, but dropped her petition this past August. Weiland cited irreconcilable differences as his reason for seeking a divorce. The couple, who have a prenuptial agreement, are the parents of two children.
Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. The judge agreed to dismiss the charges as long as Weiland underwent counseling.
Weiland was sentenced to three years probation this past August after pleading no contest to one count of possessing heroin. He is scheduled to return to court on October 20 for a progress report. He had one prior drug arrest and went to jail in 1999 after violating probation and not completing drug rehabilitation programs.
Guitarist Dave Kushner posted an update on the recording of Velvet Revolver's debut album on the band's web site this week, saying, "I can't remember ever being this excited about a record ever...what's done so far sounds better than what I could have possibly imagined. I am so proud and honored to be playing [with] these guys and of what we're doing as a band so please be patient with us 'cause you won't have to wait past February or March."
In addition to Weiland and Kushner, the band features ex-Guns N'Roses guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Matt Sorum.
