Ugh...Fox News reporting many lost limbs, many jumped into the water. As many as 6000 could have been on the boat.
Possible cause -- strong wind.

MSNBC just reported that some people are still trapped under debris. The debris field is over 400 feet...ugh, or was it yards?
Flipped over to CNN. All I had to hear was "-bic hair of Kobe Bry-" and I flipped back to MSNBC then to Fox.

Damn!! Damn!! Damn!! I know at least one person who lives on Staten Island that posts at WW. I hope he is ok. I also have others in NYC that I know but they should not have been on the ferry.
WHAT A TRADGEDY!!! I HOPE AND PRAY THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING OUT WHEN THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE!!!
PRAYERS ARE RISING FROM HOUSTON FOR ALL AFFECTED!!

Now they're reporting that there is a risk of the upper decks collapsing onto the lower deck, due to the nature of the damage along almost one entire side of the boat. Hopefully nothing like that happens until everyone is removed and the rescue workers get out.
Mayor Bloomberg left the game to get briefed so that he can have a news conference.
Question for anyone watching the game -- did they break in to report about the crash or make a mention of it? It is being played in NY today, right?

Poor New York, facing another terrible tragedy!!!

It's getting more and more tragic. Lester Holt just said that there are unconfirmed, preliminary reports that the skipper may have jumped ship after the accident, gone home, and attempted suicide.
I'm sure we'll hear more because so many times, people tend to question the state of mind (and intoxication) of a driver/pilot/captain after an accident.

The Mayor says the report of the suicide attempt is untrue. This is a terrible terrible thing. My thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.

10 dead and 34 injured is the count at this moment as the major said that in a news conference. The investigation is just starting so al the rumors about the captain trying to commit suicide are just that rumors but the investigation from the NSTB will reveal what really went wrong.I am praying for the familys of the victims and the people who were injured.

A very sad and tragic afternoon in NYC....the very strong, gusty wind was likely a factor. It's playing havoc with the ALCS game in Yankee Stadium.

Yup, good to know that the captain's suicide story was just that...a story. I heard a bit of Bloomberg's conference just before I had to leave earlier this evening and I was bugged that I couldn't get back online and post another update. Thanks for posting it, Johnathan.
