Schools in Rapides Parish, La., have a new policy: students may not be drunk or under the influence of illegal drugs at school. The policy was instituted since the old policy only prohibited "possession" of drugs which, argued the parents of a middle school student who sued, did not include drugs inside the body. Their child had been expelled for testing positive for marijuana. The School Board settled with the parents and instituted the new rule to avoid further lawsuits. (Alexandria Town Talk) ...Yet thanks to "Zero Tolerance" they expel kids for having asthma inhalers.

I can't believe that the courts even took that case. What a waste of taxpayer's time & money!

Actually, it wasn't because the student had a inhaler. It was because he shared it with another student.

Well... did the student need it? If not, then I could understand them telling the kid NOT to do that.. not expel him. If the student DID need it, and he still got expelled, those people need a life.

A student (who has asthma) gave his inhaler to his girlfriend who was having an asthma attack.
