What a wild day!!

#1 Postby MScoast » Wed Feb 19, 2003 8:05 pm

I left for school around 1 this afternoon...my car door slightly open. I knew I hadn't left it open the night before, although I know I left it unlocked. I had a bag laying on the floor board of my car when I got out last night. When I got into my car it was on the seat and had been gone through. I didn't think much of it because my husband leaves for work at 4 AM...I thought he had gone in my car looking for something. Come to find out, 17 cars in my neighborhood had been robbed last night between 1-4. Nothing was taken out of my car, but it's a scary thought that someone did this to me!!! We live in a great neighborhood. We never thought something like this would happen. Most leave their cars unlocked and even leave their purse or wallet in their car. 10 of the 17 cars were robbed on my street. Funny thing is, nobody saw or heard anything.

Yikes MScoast!

I'm glad nothing was taken from you, but I think I'd lock my doors from now on and keep my purse/wallet inside the house. :o

in the part of Biloxi I live in (Woolmarket) we rarely have any problems at all. Which totally took us by surprise. Things are usually very quiet around here. I can't believe that this happend, but I guess I knew it was only a matter of time before it made it's way up to North Biloxi!

Idea time from the Master...leave your door locked, but "give the gift that keeps on giving" to the perps...a "pet" cottonmouth or two will do nicely, cozying up in the cab, waiting... :o

I live in a nice neighborhood where crime is a rarity...but one night a while back...some idiots went through someone's trash cart (receptacle) looking for personal items in the middle of the night in which to steal their identity apparently!! :x

wow!! Talk about identity theft...my husband works for a military contractor. They do random drug/criminal checks...well, when he was checked the last time we found out that someone in Mass. went to jail on drug related charges using my husbands social security number. The contractor which he works for said they would have to leave it in our hands to fix the problem...yet NOBODY will help to solve it. Thank goodness he had check stubs to prove that he was working when he was supposedly in jail!

Get a dog!

#15 Postby coriolis » Wed Feb 19, 2003 9:36 pm

A dog is the best thing you can do to deter crime. They've interviewed reformed burglars and the like, and dogs are always near the top of the list of things to deter crime. By the way we just happen to have a batch of pit bull pups. If you're travelling this way.......

If I hear any nonsense, or my dog barking (she never
barks unless a stranger comes around) I just roll over and
wake up "Bubba" - I don't have to aim to hit something,
either!
