I know I've done this before but with all the new wxbuddies, it's time to do it again......what's your biggest fear? Mine......still the same, "Heights!" :o then spiders :o You want to bring a large man to his knees? Put me on a roof and you'll see me tremble like a poodle puppy  THEN, throw in spiders on the roof, you'll see me JUMP off the roof "LOL!"

Dennis - hopefully we'll encourage the newcomers to post!!

My biggest fear still stands too - my daughter who's highly allergic to peanuts having a full blown life threatening reaction. Not a personal one but that's truly my biggest fear. I try not to convey it to her though. And hope for the best!

Mary...you will find it interesting that the Aloha Airlines flight back from Kahului, Maui, requested that no one open or eat peanuts on the flight because of a severely allergic child on board. Lo and behold, I think everyone respected that wish.

My biggest fear...on a personal level, don't care much for spiders. On a broader level, I concern myself with the well-being of my two sons and always hope they make decisions that don't put themselves and others in jeapordy.

Steve - that was encouraging! I've discovered there are more and more children developing this peanut allergy now. A few years ago, the Elem nurse came running up to me and said - I have 5 new Kindergardener's with peanut allergies! When we found out Nina had it at age 1 1/2 (gave her a PB cookie in the grocery store), winter of 88, very few other children had this allergy. She and another girl were the only 2 at a school with over 800 students. Now I hear it's far more prevalent, makes me wonder what the heck is going on.

Not sure if this is my biggest fear, but I will not go on rollercoasters and the pirate ship ride at amusement parks.

On a day to day basis, the fear of failure.

On a more nightmarish, fright movie note - being buried alive! :shocked!:

LMAO, you guys are hilarious!!!

Well Dennis, I am with you on the spiders, I will JUMP if there is one near me!!

Also, clowns and dolls that come alive, like in scary movies, those terrify me too! So, do I want to see IT or any Child's Play movies- HECK NO!!!

I don't like heights. I had to get up on the roof of our former one-story house to clean the gutters and got all panicky because I had nothing to hold on to. I can't get anywhere near the edge of a cliff, but if there's a handrail, I'm ok.

My other fear is finishing my life with a lot of regrets.

You might make a good pilot. A old classmate of mine used to be terrified of heights. Our classroom was on the top floor of a three storey building and everytime he walked along the external corridors he would hide his face from looking down. But now he's a professional pilot and loves his job.

Go figure.

I had blood drawn on Thursday, September 18th [the morning of Hurricane Isabel's landfall along the North Carolina coast]... I wasn't too fond of it myself. I hadn't had it done since 1999, I believe. As I mentioned in another thread, only a couple things were below the range they should have been, but only slightly. :) I am going to another doctor (my parent's doctor) for a second opinion on whether I should take a depression medication that causes weight gain. Sounds strange to me. Not that it won't work, that I should actually try it for that reason.

I clean the gutter's of our (parents and my) house on a fairly regular basis... there is a large tree that drops Spanish moss all over the yard and our roof and gutters.

Our house is one level, so it isn't too bad getting them cleaned.
Had two levels and a basement in Massachusetts.

I've been afraid of heights since a baby....ladders, rooftops; yet I love to fly (not real crazy about helicopters, but planes and airliners are no problem for me; in fact, I'd love to fly onboard a reconnisance mission into a major hurricane -- it's my ultimate fantasy :)

Another phobia....I HATE spiders. I'll tear the house apart trying to kill a spider...and worry it'll turn up in my bed if I don't get it.
One of my favorite teachers from HS died of complications after a brown recluse spider bite...that's left a lifelong impression :( :o
