Why now? Protest Bush another day!

#1 Postby southerngale » Tue Feb 18, 2003 4:27 am

I've been thinking a lot about the protests over the weekend, particularly the ones held right here in America. Don't be confused. This was an anti-Bush rally, not an anti-war protest. Every reasonable, thinking, level-headed, intelligent, sane person is anti-war. War is one ugly horror after another. And unfortunately, innocent civilians do die. And these people want to use the ugly horrors of war to damage a popular president by trying to make it look like he wants war for power. We are under attack. Just because there's not an explosion every day doesn't mean that we're not. I, like other Americans fear a retaliation that will come with a war on Iraq. But as many other administrations before this one realized, sometimes war is necessary -- to protect the freedom that allows these people to go out and protest against their country as well as physically protecting us from our enemies.

Despite what it looks like on TV, polls still show that a vast majority of Americans support the war on Iraq, realizing it's necessary for our protection. If they want to protest, protest our enemies. They could have been speaking out against the murderers Osama bin laden and Saddam Hussein. No, they were too busy aiming their anger towards George W. Bush. Nevermind all of the completely horrific things Saddam Hussein has done...nevermind the threat he is to us....they say Bush is the bad guy here. They are anti-Bush, not anti-war. They offer no other realistic solutions. We can't ignore Saddam and hope he goes away.

They think it is so important that Bush doesn't defy the UN, but what about Saddam? It's not important how he has defied it every single day?

Don't get me wrong here...I do think everyone has a right to protest, even against their own government. But I think that most people should know when it's in the best interest of their country not to do so, assuming they want what's best for their country.

Do these protesters think Saddam is going to watch the news, his eyes well with tears at the outpouring of support and decide to stop hating us? Stop hating everyone? Be a friendly world neighbor? They know better. They are trying to damage a president they never voted for in the first place.

A Final Thought:
You hate this president?? Fine!!! Shut up until the war is over and pray you aren't blown to smithereens by terrorists before we get it done!!

Well...I think many protests wont be going on in the megalopolis areas of the east.....due to the weather of all things, and that puts a huge dent in ratings nationwide when it comes to pre-war times. I do believe that the protests are much more numerous than 12 years ago when I was in and we came back heroes with parades, gifts and recognition.

I really think that most people dont want to push these people and get our troops involved into yet another war which just makes our troops have low morale and also some are going back again to try to get this done. I really feel bad for these men and women this time...they feel like they are/were whisked away by orders and they will be protested 10 times as much, and no matter the outcome, they will also receive flack compared to 1991 for sure.

As was mentioned here, and confirmed on "The O'Reilly Factor" last night, the worldwide timing and funding came from organizations that are not necessarily anti-Bush, anti-war, etc., but anti-AMERICA...Chief among these are Communist organizations that no longer have a nexus of reference in Moscow (thank God!), and the flags and signs carried were old Soviet, Red Chinese, Viet Cong (In present-day Vietnam, these flags are prohibited...?)...add the usual Green, Gay/Lesbian, "civil rights" and "animal rights" groups who signed on.

Some WERE anti-Bush; these Gore-Lieberman supporters (some people never forget and forgive, huh?) carried the same signs that they held protesting his election ("Hail to the Thief", etc.) during his inauguration...(?)

Truth be told, the vast majority who showed up had no idea who was behind the protests, and in essence were being drawn out and duped by the very same people and orgaizations that funded and sponsored the Vietnam protests so long ago.

And Saddam? He's blissfully happy with the "world opinion"... as are his people, who have been emboldened to stiffer resistance from some of our erstwhile "friends" here and abroad.

Like Bill O'Reilly told the University of California at Berkeley (figures!) professor, he "won't join a protest unless (he) knows who's funding it"...

FYI, y'all. :x

i will always support the right of citizens to protest anything they want, as long as it is a peaceful protest. although there were a few anti bush protesters, i believe that most of the people there were truly against the war.

as a lifelong democrat (who voted for nader in 2000) i am over the 2000 elections. why? because gore, if he ran a competant campaign, and won his home state of tennessee the vote in florida would have been irrelevant.
if you cannot carry your own home state, then the chances of winning election are slim to none.

These commie pinko f_____ were supporting the war vs Serbia. I HATE THE LIBERALS AND THEIR ATTITUDE THAT BUSH IS EVIL SO THE WAR IS EVIL. I hated Clinton, but stood behind him and our troops until we were victorious vs Serbia. I do not like Bush either and did not vote for him in 2000 (voted for Buchanan), but will stand behind him 100 percent during this war, just as I did in 1999. It's a shame that the commie pinko f_____ cannot do the same

streetsoldier, I agree about them being anti-America. It's pitiful if you ask me. I don't believe for one second that most of the people there were just truly against the war. Dream on wannabehippie.

But hey wannabe...I think I finally agree with you on something!! :o

I still say these people obviously forgot about 9/11. That was an example of not taking threats seriously. Not only do we need to take out saddam to end his legacy of evil but also to show everyone else we don't cower to anyone IMHO  To the UN and Protesters I say...well this is a family board so I can't lol

Open your eyes and see it for what it was. Nothing more than an Anti-American, Anti Bush protest. A little research into WHO organized the largest of these protests in CA and DC will reveal to you a Communist organization in ideology. In other words..ANTI AMERICAN. The sorry part about all this is most of the protestors don't have a clue who organized it. They just want to protest something, anything, and blame Bush and America for what happened on 911 instead of those who perpetrated this hideous crime. Perhaps they would be happy if we were all under Nazi rule today.

The most rediculous image I saw over the weekend was a group of peaceniks lying on their backs with pictures of Iraqi children with captions something to the affect of "these are Bush's victims". In other words...Bush wants to murder children. Its the same old same old with these War protestors.

In case you want to know ...the name of the organization that put together the the 2 largest protests over the weekend ---- "Workers World".

I just read this on Rush's site and thought it was interesting.

You Peace Protestors Are Being Duped

February 19, 2003

My friends, there's no intelligence agency of any government which does not know that the government of Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. Let's not forget this. We've even had some of these big-hearted, well-intentioned, super-patriot, anti-war protesters call here and express concern about going to war with Iraq because, if we do, Saddam might release his weapons of mass destruction on our troops.

Wait a minute, what weapons of mass destruction? You protesters are going to have to get your story straight. He doesn't have anything worth being concerned about so what could he possibly unleash against our troops? I mean come on, folks! Don't get suckered and roped in by this PR battle here. The press and Saddam Hussein are playing you like Stradivarius.

We had a call from a protestor named Troy from Durham, North Carolina who admitted to us that no protestors are making any demands on Saddam Hussein because "no one's pretending Saddam Hussein is reasonable."

That just said it all! No demands are made on Hussein, because he's not reasonable. Yet, he has weapons of mass destruction. So let's protest Bush and appease the unreasonable danger monger? Boy, you people are being duped. It's so sad. The more you protest, the more you stretch this thing out and delay, and the more you aid Saddam Hussein.

If you really want to avoid war, you would be calling for him to step aside. If Saddam Hussein left Iraq, there would be no war. This is why I say that these protests aren't really anti-war. They are anti-Bush.
