I'm of the Christian faith, not Judaism. But some of you might be celebrating Rosh Hashanah tonight at sundown. So, Shana Tovah to ya! :)

Just a question - is that number (5764) supposed to be indicative of how old the earth is? :?:

Nope, it's based on the Jewish calendar and how old their faith is. Kinda like how ours is based on the years since Christ's birth.

If I understand correctly, they don't quite celebrate this "new year" as rowdy as we all do on 1/1. It's a religious holiday and they don't work today (the holiday officially began at sundown last night, as do all Jewish holidays). The greeting "Shana tova" is an abbreviated version of a longer greeting in Hebrew. It means something like "May your name be inscribed in the book in the coming year." That's based on the belief that God starts a new book every year and includes in it the names of those who will live and those who will have a good life. Those who aren't in the book will die or have a bad life.

Like I said, I'm not Jewish, so I the details are fuzzy to me.

This certainly is interesting. I love learning about things that are unfamiliar to me. Thanks for sharing Duck. :)
