Highlights of Saturday's radio show:

Adam’s Acronym! ____________
Adam’s Acronym this week was NTFS, which stands for New Technology File System. This is a new file system that is included as an option in Windows 2k/NT/XP. This file system allows more security options for files, users, and folders as well as offering improved reliability and recovery options. Surf over to the location below for further information:

Quickbooks Restoring Problem____________
We received our first call from Teresa in Phoenix who performed a “non-destructive partial system recovery” on her PC. She no longer has access to her Quickbooks data since performing the restore task and the program itself doesn’t work. Brandon advised her to re-install the Quickbooks program from the CD and the data should self populate back into the program. If the program works but no data can be found after re-installing, then she should use the backup disk to add the data in the program.

Stop Pop-Ups From Popping Up___________
Pop-Ups are attacking Jerry in Mesa even though he has several tools to stop it. We suggested that he only have one tool for each problem in order to keep them from conflicting. The following list of utilities is appropriate for stopping the problem shown next to it:

1. ZoneAlarm – First line of defense for many problems

2. Norton Anti-virus – Worms & Viruses

3. Ad Aware - Spyware

4. Popup Killer - Pop Ups

How To Create A Bootable CD____________
We received our next call from Lloyd wanting to know how to make a bootable CD for his computer. Lloyd installed a new hard drive and receives a message claiming he needs a bootable disk to continue. Brandon advised him that the XP CD that comes with the system is a bootable CD that will allow him to move forward. A boot image is required to create a bootable CD and this can be more difficult than most expect. Information on how to create a bootable disk or locate a boot image can be found by searching for ‘boot image’ at the link below:

Java Problem in Internet Explorer____________
Richard called in from Litchfield Park concerned with his Internet Explorer and Java script not executing properly when browsing. Brandon advised him to try restoring the defaults in his browser, however Richard had already tried that with no success. Another possible solution would be to update the Virtual Machine program at the Microsoft Windows update site. This is Microsoft’s version of Java that is compatible with the Sun Java plug-in. You can find the Sun Java plug-in at the link below:
