Here's a collection of new photos of yours truly and scenes from the White Mountains......y'all can see my ponytail in these photos, however, the wind was blowing hard yesterday so these photos don't do justice to it, I also had to cut the ponytail, it's been ONE HOT summer! ENJOY!

For ONE brief moment, your pictures made me homesick for New England. Then I thought about all the snow, sleet, cold rain, heavy jackets, mufflers, gloves and mittens, trying to navigate on black ice....and decided I'd rather stay here in Florida.

"LOL!" Sometimes jan....I agree, after 38 years on this mountain top, I too, wish I lived in a warmer climate but I "LOVE" the moutains too much. Bet ya didn't know Az looked like this huh? I live at 7200 feet in elevation, most of those photos were taken at 10,500 feet!

They are beautiful, Dennis. I loved living in NE for most of my life - but after being in Florida for 15 years, I know I couldn't take the cold weather again.

And you're right - as an Easterner, who's never traveled much of the country, when I think of Arizona and Nevada and New Mexico, I think of desert. Don't ask me why - I don't know.

Having camped many times in the White Mountains (mostly the foothills of Mount Washington) myself, these pictures surprised me to say the least. Did not know there were White Mountains anywhere but New Hampshire.

Pretty amazing isn't it? When I was stationed on the East Coast, I'd tell people about the snow we get, they'd look at me like I was NUTZ....."SNOW?? In Arizona?" This area went undetected for many, many years, now.....we are experiencing a population growth unlike any part of the country, we have over 200 new residents per month moving in.

Wait until you see my fall photos, the colors up here are BEYOND comprehension, they are just now starting, about another 2 weeks till full color! Stay tuned!

Nice pictures, Dennis! I figured that the mountain regions of Arizona were certainly different from the desert regions, but from your pics I would say it is even more beautiful than I thought it would be.
