PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (Court TV) — The hurricane winds hadn't even hit when a knife went flying around a Florida couple's home.

Seventy-year-old Joan W. Harris faces aggravated battery charges after reportedly hurling a knife at her husband because he decided to watch football instead of helping her prepare for Hurricane Isabel.

Responding officers reportedly found Robert M. Harris, 71, sitting on the bathroom sink with a large cut in his leg and a pool of blood on the floor.

Police said the dispute began when Mrs. Harris asked her hubby of 51 years to help her prepare for the impending hurricane, but he refused to pitch in until halftime.

By then, instead of tackling preparations, the Harrises were in the midst of a heated argument, police said. Joan Harris then allegedly grabbed an 8-inch butcher knife she was going to use to slice meatloaf and chased her husband into the bedroom.

She stabbed her way through the door, according to police, and then hurled the knife at her husband, hitting him in the lower leg.

The knife-wielding wife then called 911 and told the dispatcher that she "threw a knife at her husband, and now he is bleeding," according to the police report.

Robert Harris was hospitalized and released the next day. He was not seriously injured.

Oh my! :o Talk about going overboard. You think that she would have just prepared herself. Now it looks like she may have a hurricane proof jail cell. ;)

The funniest part of all of this is that they live in Florida, which was not affected by Isabel. At least if you are going to throw a knife at someone, it should be for a storm that is actually supposed to hit your area!

Actually, it happened before the turn, while she was still headed west. The wife was probably not a member of Storm2k.

That's true, this awful event occurred before Hurricane Isabel made the turn. Also, I believe they were preparing for the wave action that affected there area, living right along the coast.

I remember Katherine Harris. The chances of them being related it pretty slim. Harris is a popular last name.

The husband probably thought that the hurricane was going to turn and she accused him of -removed-. That's probably what started it.
I know how people get when they make a forecast.
