Well folks, IMAGINE this
The oil company that was responsible for the gas shortage in Phoenix last month has ties with our President, does this REALLY come as a surprize??

I guess I don't understand the point you're trying to make.
President Bush had something to do with the shortage? All oil men stick together? People who work hard and make their own money tend to favor the Republican party?

Not all......Some work very hard to make their own money and do not favor the republican Party. On the other hand, there are some who mooch off of others that favor the Repubs. Say what you want about any political party, they are all the same....in it for themselves.

As a side note - I'm not surprised either to read that though the Vice President
said that he had no more financial ties to Haliburton, he is receiving a deferred salary from them. Hmmmm.....

A deferred salary means that he didn't take the compensation when it was due him. Since that would continue according to the prior agreement until the debt was paid i don't see how this could be construed as a tie. The deferred salary is public information...

What I wonder is why don't we vote ordinary Joe the Contractor or Dave the Businessman or Susy the Homemaker into congress? Don't we want ordinary people representing
our views? Not greedy money hungry politicians just looking for power. My scope on politics is limited, in part to not wanting to hear about the disgusting details and also due to me being 21 and not having years of experience in observing politicians. The answers seem so simple to me. Vote the losers out and put in good ordinary people.
BTW, I think President Bush is handling things as well as can be expected given the current state of our society. He gets thumbs up from me.

Here in MN we did vote in an ordinary citizen. Paul Wellstone, unfortunately, he has met an untimely death in a plane crash earlier this year. But after he was in office for a couple of years, he, too started turning to be a real politician. I still respected him and his views. Also, look at our former Governor, a wrestler, not a politician by the definition of the word. He may have had a big mouth and said the wrong things at times, he still would have gotten my vote the second time around if he would have ran. So, in short, I have done what I could to vote in a regular Joe, but it takes us all, I hear that we have a retired General possibly running for President. So far, without even hearing his views, I would be inclined to vote his way no matter what the political affiliation he may be. One reason is that I am, former military. Another is that a retired General knows more about running this country I am sure than any Oil Man.

I don't hate politics... just political parties. I don't fit into either. Actually, my views overlap into both. What is a guy like me to do? lol

Well...it's like this, the oil companies, for all intents and purposes, IMHO, OWN our politicians, they have them in their back pockets......as it's been said, it's ALL about money. The politicians are for BIG OIL...to hades with the poor workin' stiffs like us! Anything the oil companies want, THEY GET! They can sidestep the enviromental issues by calling their buds in D.C. because of the finacial support they give. Reckon that's the point I'm trying to make "LOL!"

Another point, during the so called *gas shortage*, in which IMHO, was a bunch of BULL SH**, do you think the politicians would step in and put a stop to the *raking over the coals* Kinder Morgan did, HE** no......KM, now mind you, this is my opinion, PAID the states Republican reps. to stay away from this issue

I'm still incredulous over the fact that gas prices for plus is still around $1.75 per gallon here. That's what I normally buy for my car. That's 15 - 20 cents higher than what I paid for gas before the "shortage" began.

Last I heard the Dept. of Energy was supposed to launch an investigation into the prices of gasoline. They believe it is just plain price gouging. BUT... I have not heard a word about it since.

well..if its not the oil companies..its the Teacher Unions, or the Tobacco growers....etc. Everybody has their hands in each other's pockets. That's politics unfortunately.
HOWEVER....I withold critisizing Bush or his family simply because they have interests in Oil Companies. That would be like me hating baseball because he used to own a Professional team. I believe each and every American is entitled to make as much money legally as he or she is able to, the President included.
