Prayers for a friend please.

A friend of mine with severe COPD was taken to the hospital very early this morning due to not being able to catch his breath. He is now in ICU in an induced coma since he had to be intubated. They are trying to slowly bring him back out of the coma and take the tubes out, but each time they try he starts choking on the tubes and fights. He has been incapacitated with COPD for a long time and seems to be getting worse lately. We are hoping he can be weaned of the ventilator soon and eventually go back home. His name is Jim Cook and his wife is Elaine. They both need our prayers and positive thoughts.

He has improved and is off the ventilator, but is still in the hospital. No indication at this point when he may be able to go home.

Although he is off the ventilator Jim is not doing well. He has signed a DNR and has refused to go back on the ventilator. Please continue to keep Jim and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Unfortunately, it looks like this thread may have to be closed but that's not my decision to make. Heartfelt condolences to Jim's family and friends, including you, vbhoutex.

Having suffered with asthma on and off in earlier times, I can only imagine how awful it must have been for Jim to have lived with COPD.

The update.
