They are back, well almost, July 15. There is no doubt now that the Mayans were wrong about the end of the world.

Anybody ever figure out what kind of space-age polymer they're made of?

They contain gluten? Funny -- that sounds too food-like for a Twinkie....

I may have had a total of 5 twinkies in my entire life. Never did develop a taste for them. Maybe it was my body reacting to those "space age polymers". :cheesy:

Mom was always big on desert, even for lunch. On Saturday we would have a sit down lunch of grilled Spam sandwiches, a Twinkie, and a glass of milk. I am from a big family, and half the neighborhood would be over. It was fun ;)

> back in the day we didn't have dry whole wheat toast, and green tea with X-Box on the side. There was only 3 broadcast channels and green fields that were mowed sometimes where we played soccer and baseball.

I got into those chocolate covered peanut butter wafer crunchy things for a while. Loved 'em. But so did my waistline until half my pants wouldn't fit any more.

Dang!! You are old!! Sounds like something I could have written and do remember minus the twinkies.

They never left here in Canada, I saw them on the shelves during the whole process of Hostess going boom. I have never had a single Twinkie in my life.

Not that old! I recall summers like that myself, and I am technically still a student, so I have to young, right? 8-) Maybe you just have to come from a smaller town... We did baloney instead of Spam, and cookies (Oreos, usually) instead of Twinkies. But not too far off the mark -- we rode bikes and played cops and robbers and explored the old ravines. (There were only boys around -- I was in third grade before there was another girl in the neighborhood. :) )

I read that Twinkies will now have a longer shelf life. 45 days compared to the previous 26 days.

I haven't eaten a Twinkie since I was a kid, but I know that a lot of people have missed them. lol
I'm so glad I don't have much of a sweet tooth.

I thought its shelf life was infinite? All the jokes about Twinkies are based on that so I'm stumped.

:double: I was in the same camp. Probably becuase I have witnessed the multi-year storage of the old version... So then these should last multiple decades?

What *are* they made of???

Twinkies are the quintessential vehicle to wash down with milk.
