iTunes issue

I'm having a problem with iTunes. When I install the thing into the USB port, iTunes Freezes. Does anyone know the problem?

How large is your library? Mine kept freezing up as well, I have a large library that includes audio books. I purchased an external hard drive for my iTunes/iPhone and am all kinds of happy now

Only very small. iTunes appears to be working now.
