I saw this on our 12:00 pm news and if it was my kids and I found that they did that, they would be over at her house performing yard work , or anything she needed done to her house or yard. Their parents are doing nothing in the way of parenting in my opinion. My grandson would probably be one of them if he had been there but he wasn't. He really needs some one to bust his butt and make him see what his future will be if he continues on the path he is going down. My hubby and I can only do so much because we are not his parents or his guardian.

There would be public apologies if it were my child besides doing whatever the woman needed done at her house. Alternative school is also needed for each of them as kids like that do not belong in the general school population. My son was bullied and he in fact bullied others I have found out, but he would NEVER act that way towards his elders. Obviously no or at least bad parenting is going on also.
Next question is where was the bus driver and why didn't they do something about it?

Very appalling. Very similar thing happened to me, kids on my bus threatened to jump me, stab me, break into my house...Luckily my parents are Police Officers and put a nice end to it. It surprises people, but this is the way children are now. That is how many buses and classrooms are now in education. There is no punishment for bullying...the schools don't do anything. Giving a piece of paper that says "referral" on top is not punishment. This is just my opinion, but we have gotten to far into the "the kids need to be cared for" in schools. If a kid is being a jerk, dont give them 15 pieces of paper before a suspicion; 1 or 2 referrals, then 2 suspensions, then expulsion. If they cant act properly in school, then they can get their education elsewhere.

I'm no expert, everything I say should be taken with a large amount of salt. I could easily be very, very wrong.

Hopefully now she can retire and not have to worry about anything like those little urchins.

For starters, a convenient woodshed and leather strap would be appropriate followed by TOTAL grounding for a year-no visitors, no visits to friends and NO absolutely NO video games. Besides working for the woman for free, he would be enrolled in Summer school and volunteered for 500 hours Community Service.

I would send these kids to boot camp, and trust me they will learn what respect is after the Sargent is done with them

I'm finally getting the nerve to voice my opinion as it differs from the others. If this woman was the bus monitor, why did she allow these kids to act like this? Isn't her position to maintain order on the bus? Surely she could have gotten up and gone up to the bus driver and have him turn the bus around or notify the school. To me it appears she just sits on the bus and lets the kids do whatever they want.

I have not been clear on what her role is. What I heard is that she was to monitor the bus to be sure the kids were safe. To me that does include helping to maintain discipline on the bus. To the district that may not mean "making" the kids be respectful as opposed to monitoring them to be sure they are acting safely and not endangering themselves or others. As I said above where was the freaking bus driver during all of this? Surely they knew what was going on. She shouldn't even have to alert the bus driver to rude behavior imo if the bus driver is doing their whole job. JMHO

I don't even know if the bus drivers/monitors/assistants, whomever, would even begin to know what is the right way or the wrong way to discipline these kids. If the monitor or bus driver started to yell at them, I don't think that they would've stopped. Plus, in the age of lawsuits, etc., how many of the parents would really side with the bus driver/monitor anyway. "My Johnny didn't do THAT" is all the rage now. No, I'm kind of glad that it happened the way it did, showed a woman that was trying to ACT LIKE AN ADULT get hurt deeply by verbal bullying, and now it's viral so people can see what the heck is going on in the world today. These kids needed to be humbled and embarrassed by this video and feedback. It also had to put other bullies on notice that in this day and age of technology, you will not get away with it, even if adults are afraid of you.

I've thought about having these kids either do work for this woman and/or do it for an elderly person in their neighborhood.
