I have been Hacked!

Well, I received a email that threatened to hack my website today, and low and behold, I was hacked about a half hour ago.
It is just putting random weather words on my site, and corrupted data to my server.
I have backups, and am in the process of replacing them right now.
The email address that I got the mail from was one of those odd type addresses, so I have no way to trace.
Beware those with websites!

Fortunately, I don't have any INTERESTING sites
that I even keep up anymore, so, I am not
worried for ME, but, those of you with sites kept
current, it may be logical if you get a prior e-mail warning, you might pass that e-mail on to the server that hosts your site.
Crickies, weatherwunder! Do you think that your
site host might be able to track them?

I have just heard from them, and they may have a hit on a IP address. They are investigating further.
It really was not a huge deal, except for having to restore 15.3 meg of data.
Whew............
Glad that is done!
I took the email as a hoax, stupid me. The only real damage done was that it made me look like an idiot since I am trying to promote my site.

I hope their "hit" follows through, friend.
I know that you are glad to get the work done,
but, it sucks that you even had to go there, in
the first place!

Hopefully your ISP will track them down! I don't know why people try and destroy what has taken so many hours to develop. I know Chad and I have untold hours in S2K. If they can track this Arsehole I hope they prosecute. Federal laws are nothing to mess with!

Sorry about that weatherwunder....I'm glad it wasn't worse though.
I don't understand why people do it either. I mean, don't they have something better to do with their lives than to hack into other people's websites for ummm...fun? How pathetic!

I know how you feel Jeff....my website in honor of Pfc Jessica Lynch was hacked THREE times in six weeks...one reason I discontinued it
The motive? Anti-American idiots??? Someone jealous of Jessica recieving attention?? Who knows what motivates such blind hatred -- I also recieved several death threats; and threats were directed at my family....it takes a severely warped mind to threaten innocent people like my grandmother and sisters...sick!
I'm now having trouble with some idiot emailing folks viruses (email worms) from Orlando, FL and somehow making it look like my Webtv unit is sending the emails...the IP number is a company in Orlando -- yet two websites have warned me to contact my ISP because my "email is infected with a virus".
I did call Webtv, and MSN Technical Support said it was IMPOSSIBLE for my emails to contain viruses -- because Webtv has no hard drive and can't download executable attachments...and therefore no viruses.
Best wishes Jeff....I hope they catch the SOB who's hacking your site and put them under the jail!!

Sorry to hear about this, Jeff. I think those who hack into websites, as well as those who create computer viruses, need to be locked up for a long, long time.

Mine was hacked a couple of months ago. i went to my site and it was completely gone, all that was there was one line saying that it had been hacked by "such and such" pain in the butt it was.
