Alternate Hurricane Names

#1 Postby DanKellFla » Sun Mar 27, 2011 2:33 pm

Since there is a continued lack of response when hurricanes threaten, I think an additional warning system needs to take place. The storms follow the tradditional list of names until they really get close to land, then they should get alternate serious names. Such as:

A storms become: Atillia, the Hurricane

C: Caligula or Carolus Magnus
R: Rasputin

...... Help me out here people. I need barbarian and monsters from history.

LOL, Rasputin. First you would need to explain to the American people who this guy was and the same with any other barbarian or bad name in history! I don't think that naming storms after bad people will make people become more aware of them. Maybe after MTV personalities? or American Idol people? That's what most people know about.

Well many people would be offended by by Hurricane "Hitler". In 2001, the Eastern Pacific name "Adolph" was retired for political considerations...So I dont think naming a hurricane, even if approaching, after a man who murdered millions would be appropriate for a government to use.
