I remember setting my alarm clock to get the coordinates, winds and pressure for TC's starting in 1979 at age 10. If I missed them I didn't know any other way to get them.

That's awesome. Where did you get them from?

I don't know what my problem is but i'm not able to sleep lately. I'll go to bed and just toss & turn, unable to get comfortable. Then i'll get up and i'm up the rest of the night. I'm going to try tylenol pm tonight and see if it'll help me get back to my normal (haha) sleep pattern. Oh and God forbid if i drink caffeine...anytime of the day! I'm wired for the next week and a half!

All you insomniacs, try this simple remedy and let me know how it works:
Drink a glass of warm (not hot) milk and eat a raw onion 1 hour before bedtime. Should work like a charm.

Some folk also recommend eating turkey a couple hours before bedtime. Turkey contains L- Tryptophan which is said to induce sleepiness.

Yeah, me too. Lots of stress in my life now. But, my best insomnia remedy is three fold.
1) Exercise. That really helps.
2) Understand how much sleep you really need. I do well with 6 hours of uninterupted sleep. So, if I fall asleep at 10 and get up at 4 AM. I no longer stress about it. I just do something.
3) Valerian Root Tea. I have tried various prescriptions. They work well but have side effects. Valerian Root tea, while tasting awful puts me to sleep about 2 hours after I drink it. So, I drink it just before bed. (I don't have problems falling asleep, just staying asleep.) And, I wake up in the morning without any side effects.

Yes, exercise does help. Just don't exercise too close to bedtime, though. Otherwise, it can have just the opposite effect.

I use melatonin to help me fall asleep if I find myself tossing and turning for about 15 minutes or more when I go to bed. It helps to enhance drowsiness. Of course, a good glass of wine helps too!

I do wake up in the middle of the night, particularly during the workweek. At my age, it's just one of those things that I'm going to have to accept. I do really well with 8 hours of sleep, but during the week, it's more like 6 1/2 to 7 hours.

I'm with Stephanie and Cat.... Melatonin really works. You can find it in the vitamin section of your pharmacy.
Of course a glass of chardonnay always helps. lol

I find that sex is very effective in helping you get to sleep. Just ask my wife - she'll tell you that I'm snoring loudly within three minutes after!
