What in your opinion is the best tv show ever?
For me, it's the Simpsons (although it's fallen off the last few years)

Without a doubt: LOST
The most fascinating, intriguing show ever. It's the most unique show I've ever watched and I doubt anyone will ever be able to match this creative masterpiece.

24. House. Any show on Nickelodeon from 1993-1999. South Park, Classic Simpsons, I could go on.

I
LOVE both of those shows, but LOST is just in a category by itself, completely different from everything else... plus, he asked for show, not shows.

Jack Bauer and Greg House are the two greatest characters ever. Period. The shows, I like them equally so I can't pick just one lol.

Hands down... LOST. There are many other great shows out there. LOST is in a league by itself.

Good topic! Impossible for me to pick just one (I'm too old!) Maybe one per decade, lol! Some immediately come to mind that were popular, ground-breaking, excellent in their day. Some I don't remember the names, so those with better memories, help me out, please?
Gunsmoke
Bonanza
Ed Sullivan
Saturday Night Live
Mary ___ (what was that really wierd funny soap-type show with that strange lady?)
All In The Family
(show about the law school students?)
MASH
St. Elsewhere
ER (early seasons)

p.s. - I'm so ancient, I watched the Beatles' U.S. debut, live on Ed Sullivan...
"She Loves You" and "I Wanna Hold Your Hand"
(and yes, I did scream at the tv - I was a little grade-schooler, but still a fan!)

Tireman4 - DING, DING, DING!! Those are the right ones! And THANKS for the links!
I loved the movie Paper Chase, tv show wasn't quite as good. But John Houseman played such a deliciously-cantankerous professor!! (knew a few like that in college, but none so eloquent as Prof Kingsley)
Mary Hartmann, Mary Hartmann (must say it twice, that's the idea) - what a WIERD show, but was quite the "in" thing to watch, and it really did parody the soap operas cleverly. It was on late, like Saturday Night Live, considered too 'too' for prime time.
I do vaguely remember Sky King...

I watched Ed Sullivan when Elvis Presley first appeared. (1956)
My all time favorite would probably be All In The Family
Yep, Sky King was good on Saturday morning along with Mighty Mouse.
