I will never buy a HP product again!!! Bought a HP laptop Nov. 25. CPU went out 3 weeks ago. Spent an hour on the phone with someone in India reading out of a book to find out I have to send it in for repair. Went without for 2 weeks and it is returned "repaired". Within a few hours of starting it up the CPU died again!! Now they tell me I can take it to Best Buy for repair. Why didn't they tell me that 1st? ARRRGGHH!!!!! It is under warranty so I don't understand why they won't replace it since the same exact thing happened again. HEWLETT PACKARD PRODUCTS SUCK!! The dude that was assigned my case told me he would call today with an answer. Never called. I had to call him to get an answer. I wonder when the doofus was planning to let me know?

He gave me his number and extension and I ended up in line for "the next available representative"???? WTF?? Why give out the info if it is bogus?? Finally I get to him and I get the above info, which is not acceptable to me. My choices are to have it repaired again or trash it. This company should fold in on itself it is so inefficient!!

Th same thing happend to me except I bought a Dell and got some guy from probably India who barely could speak English. Hetold me that I would have to send it in and pay for it myself to ship it or the ycan send a guy and it it looked like a user problem I would have to pay for it. I just said forget it and bought a new computer because I got so fed up because I believe he couldnt understand me and couldnt help me. Why do the ycall it tech support if they dont even support you, 99% of the time you have to send ti in somewhere. Then they tried to make me by insurance that wasnt cheap either to help me with this. I was like Well I wouldnt need the insurance if you peice of crap computer worked. I have since bought my own computer and my neighbor put it together and suprisingly had no problems. I seriously thing these people bug our computers on purpose to charge us more in the end to "fix" them.

I stand by HP, and will for the forseeable future! I have always had HP since I was old enough to use a computer. I am currently typing from an HP laptop, and I have 3 other HP computers in my house. I've only ever had minor problems with the computers. I have NEVER called tech support, but I have gone to the Geek Squad at Best Buy a couple times (mostly viruses, not the computer). The Geek Squad is amazing!!

I have an HP laptop that I bought in April from the PX and I haven't had any problems at all with it. Actually, I have never had issues with any computer I've owned, other than when I personally tried to upgrade my old Windows ME desktop to XP and added a better graphics card. My HP is running off of Vista and I've heard soooo many complaints about Vista, but other than the occasional hiccup (and the fact it requires so much RAM), I haven't had a problem with Vista, either.
That old Windows ME was a HP, and we had it for years before I screwed it up (oopsie...hey, I was only like 16 at the time and it was the first time I ever opened a comp up) I actually got it to boot like it was supposed to, but I couldnt get XP to install all the way for some reason *shrug* oh well.

I too am using a HP laptop. Aside from some issues with the fan which makes it overheat a little it's worked fine.

I do understand your frustration, bu that happens with all the computer brands. They all sell products from just a few manufacturers, so whether you buy a Dell, and HP, or an Acer, etc, chances are you're buying the same crap manufactured by the same random company in China. There is no excuse for the poor customer service, though.

I bought a camera last june from best buy and i can't get it to charge. Just last week i took back to best buy...they handled sending it back to kodak themselves and there's no charge to me. There's usually a years warranty. If i had bought the extended warranty i think they would have replaced the camera right then and there.
Always try the store you purchased from first. More often than naught they will help you out.

I never owned a laptop and don't know if I ever will. It seems that they are way more prone to problems, breakage, and even theft than good old desktops.
If I'm traveling or something, I bring a book to read.

Took the laptop to BB and first question out of their mouth was, "did you buy it at BB?". the answer is no. "then we can't deal with it since we have to send it out. HP DOESN'T KNOW THEIR ARSE FROM A HOLE IN THE GROUND WHEN IT COMES TO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
However, the Geek Squad guy asked what it was doing so I tried to show him and the SOB is now working fine!

I don't know if something was loose ore what. Doesn't matter to me anyway. I still haven't changed my mind about HP. I will never have another one of their products simply due to the fact they have no idea what they are doing when it comes to customer service.

Almost sounds like a car problem - works when you bring it in for service.
I'm glad it's working now for you.

years ago had a compaq/hp and their customer service also caused me to decide never again.
Dell I have had pretty good luck with, even their customer service. They have been professional and able to help solve any problem I have had quickly. Recently had a hard drive go out just after3 yr warranty mark and they sent someone out to replace and install.

The first computer I owned was a HP with Windows ME . I hated it until I installed more Ram in. Before that it was so slow , it was like a turtle when loading a page . After I maxed out the amount of Ram that machine could handle, it ran fine. Pages loaded very fast after that. Then it was replaced with a home built computer at Christmas 2007, I gave the old HP to a friend for her kids to use. Last year when the home built one crashed, I bought a HP laptop and at Thanksgiving 2009 I bought a HP Desktop with Windows 7 on it. My laptop has Vista.

I purchased an HP J4540 all in one printer, scanner and fax.......endless problems from the very beginning. I have to reboot every time I need to use the damn thing. I have since discovered it is the most returned piece of hardware on the market.
I am also done with HP.

Based on studies done, HP laptops are the most unreliable....I believe one of the durable brands is Toshiba....

Hey VB, I had an HP Pavilion desktop that was 4 yrs old. My son downloaded a virus on it. When I tried to run my antivirus program, the virus prevented the program from starting, so I tried running it in safe mode. That didn't rid the machine of the virus, so I thought I'd try a system restore, just to so if by chance that would work.
The computer went thru the restore process and restarted. Only prob was I got a white screen after the restart and the puter froze up. So I manually restarted only to get a black screen. After trying to manually restart a couple of times with the same black screen result, I manually restarted and clicked f10 to enter system restore console. But it didn't give me the option to restore the system to it's original purchase state. So I followed the directions on the screen to exit the program. Unfortunately, every time I typed "Exit" to get out of the restore console, the computer restarted and went directly back to the system restore console.
So I got on my Dell laptop and emailed HP customer support. They said to use the restore disks that came with the computer. Only problem with that was there were no restore disks that came with the computer! I had to order them. That cost $29 and a couple of days later after they arrived, I put the 1st disk in the drive and NOTHING happened. I restarted the computer, and of course it opened up system recovery console, inserted the disk for the 2nd time and viola! NOTHING happened

I called HP customer support and spoke to several people from India. I swear, one needs a translator to understand what most of them are saying!
I spent $49 to have them "help" me for 24 hrs since the warranty had expired. After spending several hours on the phone with several different Indians, the problem was not resolved. We went through every step they had in their books, short of taking the side panel off and checking to see if the wiring was connected HAHA. The last person I spoke with told me I'd have to send the computer in for repair and it would cost me at least $200. I said "FORGET IT!" I'll just use my DELL laptop and buy a DELL desktop later!

I got an email from HP support a day or so later saying to change out the DVD/CD drive and see if that would work, so I took one out of an older Dell desktop I had sitting in the spare bedroom and put it in the HP. Still wouldn't load the restore disk, so I have trashed the HP and put the old Dell desktop back on the computer desk.
I don't think I'll buy another HP computer either...not because of the product itself, but because of the service one gets from the company.

Recently my sound quit on the new HP desktop I bought last Nov. I contacted the support area on the HP website and choose email support help.It took 3 people helping by email but I finally solved my no sound problem, it was the speakers I had used. I had used the same speakers I had bought with my first HP . The speakers had finally quit working. After I bought a new pair of speakers and hooked them up my sound is back.
