Sold my car on Craigslist

I posted an ad on Cragilist to sell my 99 Odyssey with a dead transmission. I was asking $2000. I had pictures and mentioned that the transmission needed to be replaced. I got 20 phone calls within 15 minutes of the ad posting. It took me 6 hours to sell the van for $1,500. I was amazed. That worked out well. What I don't understand is the behavior of some people. I had one guy who claimed to be near my house willing to pay full price for the van. I told him to get over here because somebody was in my driveway looking at it right now. Which was the truth. He said that it would take him 10 minutes. OK, so I stalled to other people for a bit, and they offered $700 for the van. I politely rejected the offer and they left. Then, I called the "full price" guy back and asked if he was lost. "Oh yeah, I am on my way." Sure..... he never showed up. About an hour later, I sold the van. But why would somebody just say they were coming to buy it, and then never show? On the phone, he sounded very interested. But, I told him that whoever makes it first, gets the van. Who knows?

congrats on selling your van!
who knows why some people catch their thrills by leading people on, only not to come through!

but the most important thing is that you got it sold! Congrats

Some people will say anything to keep their options open to try to control the outcome. For all you know that no show was looking at another vehicle first and maybe decided to buy that one.

I have learned, the hard way, that not having a second thought about going back on your word
is becoming quite a popular trend, these days!

Congrats on your quick sale.
