Just received my June power bill.....$227. This months bill was more than 75 dollars greater than the highest ever....Of course when you keep your house 73 degrees and it is at or near 100 for most of the month what do you expect.....MGC

Wow, that's $75 more than the highest ever? So your highest ever was $152. I'd faint if mine was ever that low. lol
I moved into my new house this past November and I've gotten below $300 twice, the lowest being $225. I've never gotten over $400, but the one I just got was the highest so far, $366. This seems fairly similar to my old house, which was a lot smaller, so I guess I can't complain too much.
Who do you have over there? I have Entergy.

I was thinking like SG. Our last wasn't terrible, but it was $265.00. During the spring and summer we consistently are between $200 and $300. We have Reliant Energy. Being on balanced billing eases the pain somewhat but that doesn't change the actual bills just keeps the amount we pay the same for 6-12 months.

Our city the highest in the county. We don't know why. Hitting $400 is no difficult task in June for any household here. (Fort Meade, Florida that is. It's better in Lakeland, where I also live.)

I'm actually looking forward to seeing what ours was for June. It was so cool and rainy this past June.
So far, July has been an absolute joy. By now, we'd be sweltering in over 90 degree weather and high humidity. We've been in the high 70's to low 80's and comfortable levels of humidity. It's been a weird year weather wise in the Mid Atlantic.

Enjoy it, Steph. We've been setting record highs left and right down here. A lot of 100+ temps!

My May bill was low 72.00 and June was 119.99 which was low for June. I set the termostat at 79 because my mama is always complaining she's cold. I'm sorry your bills are so high. I couldn't afford to pay any that high.

UH, got the bill for last month and it was $305.00!! I guess I spoke too soon. Glad I got the house insulated to R-30 last year. I can't imagine what it would be if we hadn't done that.

Do you mind if I ask how much it cost to insulate to R-30 vbhoutex? Our house was build in 1947 and is rather short on insulation. I expect electricity rates to rocket if Cap and Trade is passed and signed into law. Windows are next on our agenda. I figure we will spend close to 10K for good windows......MGC

Check your pms MGC. Windows is really the next thing we need to do also, but we can't justify the 10K(min) that it would cost right now since I am unemployed.

Have a 20 year old 2000 sf home with double pane windows. A/C runs from mid April through October, but have a programmable thermostat that allows temperature to rise to 81 while we're at work. 78 the rest of the time.
APS (Arizona Public Service) provides electricity here.
In 1997, my power bill averaged $214 per month year round. We installed a high effeciency Trane AC unit four years ago. Current monthly year-round payments, including the AC and pool pump that runs four hours each night, is $167. Considering we have two months above 100 and higher, we think that is pretty good. The high efficiency AC is slowly paying for itself.
We pay less now by almost $50 per month than we did 12 years ago. APS rates have also gone up.
But no kids or pets at home. That means temps can be a little higher, lights are off when rooms are vacant, and no TV's left on for hours. We remember those days, though.

Wow, electricity at my home runs about $75 a month!

That is with the thermostat on 74 me being home most of the month. My bill falls in the fall, winter, and spring when I am home. The highest electricity bill I have had has been around $110. And I have a 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath house with a full basement.

If we had a electric bill below 300.00 would probably faint!

Peeps, those are some seriously high bills you're talking about. Anything over say $150 (that's Barbados dollars. 1 Barbados dollar = roughly 50 US cents) per month would be considered quite high here for the average household.
