Just Found Out My Ex-Husband Passed Away

Apparently he died in December, 2007 of cancer at the age of 57. My mother and I were talking yesterday about different things and she asked if I knew that he had passed away. I don't get the local paper, only the Philadelphia Inquirer so I never did see the obituary.
My mother works at a local YMCA, the very one that Dan and I met at. Dan still lived in the same area we lived in and belonged to that YMCA. My mother had seen him over the years and they had spoken to each other on occassion. She had told me a while back that he was married again to wife #4 (I was #2). For a while she did not see him come to the Y and then he reappeared again, but he looked ill. She did speak to him one day when he came to work out with his wife, but he ended up sitting in the lobby because it became too much for him. Not long after that he died.
I never did stay in contact with him after we divorced - there was really no reason to after that. I left him for Marty and broke his heart.
I don't know what type of cancer it was. His youngest brother, Gregg, passed away a few years earlier due to a brain tumor. Dan had surgery to remove a large, non-cancerous polyp from his intestine while we were married.
I guess that this is my way of saying good bye. You were a good man Dan, we were just two very different people. I'm glad that you had someone with you at the end that did love you for who you were and was better suited for you.
