edit: What is an amphibious landing craft with the capacity to land 1100 men doing off the coast of Iran?
Could be an exercise but seems like kind of a waste for a routine patrol?

The same reason why all the other ships are over there: they are on deployment. You expect them to leave their gear behind when they are told they are going on deployment?

If something happens that requires a quick placement of troops, we dont have to wait, the ships and aircraft are already in the region.

Someone's should get fired over this. Pretty inexcusable to run a sub into another ship.....
