My brother-in law works on modules that are part of the ISS. The fruit bat was observed alive prior to launch and moving around as the inspection process was taking place. High powered NASA photography lost sight if the stowaway as Discovery cleared the tower. Purhaps the little Bat-ronaunt had enough fun hanging out on the external fuel tank and decided to look for "oranges" elsewhere.

The bat wanted to go to space because he was tired on Earth.

I just saw this on NASA.gov, not reading this topic. I thought a baseball player went up, so I didnt look!!!! Boy do I sound dumb now! But its very interesting that a bat was on the orange tank, and its not a first.
