Another year is almost at end. Where has the time gone? It's time for us to make our yearly trek to lake charles to spend new years eve with our dearest friends. We have spent at least the last 16 new years eve's with them at a restaurant, their house or our house depending on the age of our kids at the time. It's a tradition i never want to see end. It's a laid back affair these days...just sitting around talking, watching the fireworks from their back porch, good food, good drink, good friendship. I have to add that the two men have been friends since highschool...probably about 37 years.

Since i don't get on the internet when we're over there...to my s2k family I wish you

happy new year to everyone on here, and all their families!
My plans :- working 6pm til 2am! Bah hambug. well someone has to do it, and that someone is me. At least it will keep me outta trouble.

Probably wait for the ball to drop and then go to bed. Fireworks are illegal in the city and our son and his wife will be in the area partying(and spending the night at our house)so we won't be out at his house this year trying to blow up the neighborhood. It was quite a spectacle out in his area of the county last year-more like a war zone there was so much ordinance being set off.

Ill watch the ball drop, and then run outside to watch the firework that will be going off til 2am. Pretty normal new years for this neck of the woods. My last normal new years, next year ill have a head full of thoughts about moving out.

Well the past few years I have sent the kids off to the parents and in laws while
hubby and I hung out or went out. This year since they are older and maybe able
to make it till midnight I am keeping them all home and making alot of finger foods
to munch on and watching the ball drop, and Mileys MTV special. Maybe even shoot
off some left over 4th fireworks we have. I think it will be a
great new tradition for our family. We never do anything, just us, for any Holiday. We
always have to run around to other peoples house for EVERY holiday. So I am looking
foward to just spending the evening with my husband and 3 girls!!!

We'll watch the ball drop, run outside fire the shotgun a couple times, wait for a few seconds to make sure no one is firing back and go back inside. Ahhhh country living is soo nice at time...and so boring at others!!

We're having a party here. We live outside the city limits, so we can set off fireworks, and it's generally the place to hang out on New Year's Eve. I've got some finger foods, chips and dips, etc.

Watch college football all day, watch the ball drop, head to a diner for breakfast, go to bed, get up, watch more college football.

Happy New Year to all of you at S2K! For a brief moment after midnight, most of us will probably be able to say that the new year has been uneventful!!

But then we wake up and dive in!

We wish everyone a year full of hope and inspiration. For each challenge that comes your way, we hope it helps you learn and grow in ways that matter most to you.

And while there are many things going that are bigger than any one of us, we must each keep striving to make each day a little better than the last. That's something we can do something about, and it does make a difference.

After waking up this morning at 3:45 am, Kathy and I are spending New Year's Eve with a couple of good friends. It's party time for the old geezers as we dance to music from the 70's and welcome the new year with a champagne toast.

Shortly after midnight we will be looking for someone with a tank of oxygen to give us enough air to crawl off the dance floor and welcome in the new year when we wake up tomorrow morning.

It's snowing here and the wind is picking up, so the predictions that we will lose power have a high probability of coming true. And it's cold...... But the snow is the really, really pretty stuff that coats all the tree limbs and makes the pine trees look as if they are Christmas decorations... It's very heavy snow, so the visiibility is poor and it seems as if we are alone in our little world here...

If the power stays on, we'll sit around and watch the Times Square festivities. If we lose power, then it's board games by lantern light, etc.

But at least we know the champagne will stay chilled...

So Happy New Year everyone since I probably won't be on the computer later.

I'm looking forward to watching temps drop into the teens with 30 mph winds in NYC on TV, myself. If I remember to pick up a cheap bottle of sparkling wine, may even have a midnight toast unless I get tired and go to bed.



Tomorrow is a Holy Day of Obligation, so I can't get too tostado tonight.


Unlike New Years 1982, where as a 17 year old I went to a party, drank a 6 pack of Heineken, and most of a bottle of cheap California port, knew I was going to be sick, made it to the bathroom, but somehow forgot to open my mouth and had the unpleasant sensation of wine and gastric juices in my sinuses and nostrils.


I swore I'd never drink again. But now that I have kids, just can't party anymore like its 1981.

Went to a local diner for dinner, caught the last half of "I Am Legend" and then replayed Game 5 of the World Series from the bottom of the 6th on.
