Going Away For A Long While

As was alluded to on the "Sooo..." thread, I am going away for a good chunk of time (10 weeks) starting next Tuesday (29 July).
The reason being is, let's see if anyone catches this, "What kind of training, son?" "ARMY Training, Sir."
Haha, I did indeed decide to join the Army...Basic is going to be fairly interesting. My MOS is 13W, or Field Artillery Meteorological Crewmember, or in my shortened version, the weatherman for the big guns...

Basic is 9 weeks long (not counting 0 week, or orientation), then I start AIT (Advanced Individual Training, try to keep up with the acronyms...xD Transformers) and that lasts another 7 weeks. Goody me gets to be in Oklahoma for both Basic and AIT...but I dont get to take my camera! So I'ma be upset if I see my first ever tornado, and I cant have a picture of it.

As a Vietnam vet myself (my God, that was almost 40 years ago!), thank you, THANK YOU, for your service to this country.
While in Vietnam, I served on the central coast. I had my first and only encounter with a typhoon!!
You will discover that weather is great to watch from anywhere you go.
Again, my handshake reaches your way and says thank you!!

Best of luck. Let me know how 13W treats you. Originally, I was supposed to go in the Army under 13W, but I found out that they really don't do any real weather and that the AF provides most of the meteorological support for the Army. Then, I switched over to the blue!

*gasp* Navy? xD j/k All the branches are technically equal (regardless of what anyone who has served would like to otherwise say

) as all of them serve this fine country we decided to call home.
I hope to be back online, if only for a little bit a day, in mid-October (otherwise I think Nat would kick my arse if I was not o.o, yes, she has kept me in line haha). I will also keep a journal, and hope to have time to type that up as well. I know no computer access during Basic, letter only, but am not sure about the schooling afterwords...pretty sure life goes back to "normal" after you graduate Basic?
Anyways, I'm looking forward to time away from the house and out in the country and a chance to have a little bit of fun as well.
Thanks for all the replies!
