Not using the edit feature?

#1 Postby ColdFront77 » Sat Aug 09, 2003 9:49 pm

Why do some members not use the edit feature? Instead of adding to an existing post, a new post is made right under their previous post, sometimes not even 30 to 60 seconds later.

Thank you in advance. :)

I tend to edit; however when I do edit, the server seems to slow down and take longer to post the edit than it does to post the actual post. :?

Thanks Linda. :) I agree, it makes more sense to reply to individual members in a new post. I am talking about general posts that would make sense if they were edited, rather than taking up space one after the other.

I have been guilty of this in the past also. I am trying to be a better poster.

A slap on the wrist for me!

Please understand that I am not upset or blaming anyone for not editing their posts. I am curious to know what opinions you have and if you are indeed aware of the edit feature. Thanks again. :)

Tom,
I understand that completely, no offense taken at all. I think sometimes people just get in a hurry to add something, and make a new post.

Tom,are you talking about correcting mistakes on a post or continuing a topic by editing a post to add more to it?

I do it sometimes, and plan to continue UNLESS and UNTIL Marshall, Chad, or ticka tell me I'm breaking the rules and/ or causing a problem (i.e.- someone in authority).

If you reply in the same thread, you cannot delete your previous post. I've found that out many times. Therefore, I can edit it, but it would make no sense.

Perry, I hope I made it clear that I brought this up only for discussion, not to have a problem arise from something on my mind.

David, I tend to edit my posts when something I said didn't make sense and/or there is an obvious typo that I feel I should correct. It makes sense that we aren't able to delete posts after there has been at least one post after it. I believe that is the way all message boards work.

Most boards have a feature where the edit stops working after x number of minutes. I know one which doesn't: Neoseeker. ;) I have taken advantage of it many times.

I am pretty sure that this board does not shut off the edit feature, I can edit posts that I left yesterday.

I edit all the time. Sometimes to correct typos, or if I need to tone something down, or if I change my mind. It did cause a problem once, though, someone was replying at the same time I was editing, and when it was all over, things didn't make sense.
