Today there is a strong smell of smoke INSIDE our house...strange, the winds may have shifted...looking out my office window, I see a huge plumb of smoke...not a welcome sight...ashes are blowing around everywhere...the winds are high today and just feeding this thing...over 4000 acres have burned already....this is a big one...very disheartening...

I'm positive we are still very safe...it's just a little freaky to hear the firefighters say they're trying, but it keeps growing and spreading in many directions, out of control...no estimate of containment at this time...

Welcome to California

if the fires don't get you then the floods, mudslides or earthquakes will. This is the downside to the "Good Life" in the Golden State.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off To Cali We Go!

Had to cancel our 4-day vacation break to Colorado next weekend. Kathy's workload is heavy, heavy these days.

But....we're instead stretching out our time in California with our family by an extra few hours by heading to San Diego later today.

Hopefully you Californians have done well in cooling things off and slowing down the fires. We don't need that while we are there. We did hear that a section of I-8 was closed for a bit a day ago due to a wildfire near Yuma, AZ...but I believe it is now reopened.

I'll check in a time or two while there. Meanwhile, please be safe and enjoy the next few days as well.

Steve...have a wonderful visit with Dad, Emma and family! We'll be thinking of you...I want pictures of Emma upon your return! Looks like the fires have been contained and will be most likely out, by the time you reach San Diego city limits...good news!

Today is mine and Brian's 2 year wedding anniversary...YEAH :) He's made reservations at a romantic Disney rest. (yes, there's more than drooling kids dripping ice cream at Disney) ! So, we're heading back to DisneyLand later this afternoon, and sending the kids next door to Disney;s California Adventure Park while we dine...they are excited to go on the thrill rides! We're also spending the Sun-Mon Mother's Day weekend at Disney...my choice :O). Tuesday we'ew going into LA for a CUBS game....Brian is so excited, and then Friday we head to Las Vegas to meet up with Brian's sister from South Carolina...BUSY week coming up! It's officially been 1 year since we met up with HD in Galveston and went on our last cruise...I see one in my future soon.... :O)

Have a great day everyone...enjoy your weather!

Thanks ya'll...we had fun, though we only arrived at Disney two hours before park closing...LA traffic! @#$%&

I ended up canceling our dinner reservations, because they wouldn't let me order Monte Cristo, which I LOVE at Disney, it wasn't on their dinner menu...and romance or not...I wasn't paying $30.00+ per meal for crappy Disney fare... So we did a few rides, watched the parade and drove into HOLLYWOOD to show the kids the sites and lights...(after a quick detour by Brad and Jen's house)....ending up dining at the famous Mel's Diner off Hollywood Blvd...mediocre fare...the nightlife was a little too seedy for our taste...not a family envirenment lastnight...though that guy did look great in that dress...

So, we're planning a romantic dinner another night...without the kids...and without the drag queens :O).

Afternoon everyone and Happy Mother's Day to the mothers out there!!!

I spent the early afternoon after church out at the lake, but I had to come home early so I could get the yard mowed and do some stuff before it gets dark.

Afternoon all.. I hope the Mothers are having a Happy Mothers Day..

Everyone's talking about trips.. I have nearly 80 dollars saved up for my baseball retreat to St. Pete.

That would be more than enough.. But I am saving extra just in case. Mom wants me to check and see if the Greyhound bus, I can take it to St. Pete and somehow come home the same day..

I may have to go see the Greyhound people and ask them lol.. The extra $ I am saving is for the possibility that I'd have to spend a night in a hotel..

Due to the facts that I have to work tomorrow from 4 to 11 PM and I may be spending most if not all of my free time tomorrow working on getting my new computer up to speed, I may be offline all day tomorrow. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. ;)

Hi....hope everyone had a wonderfully fantastic mothers day...mine was nice, why I thought standing in long lines, holding bags, and camera's and tripping over strollers all day was the right way to "relax" on Mother's day...I'll never know! Actually...it was a great trip, and the lines were short, but BOY do I need a foot massage! We're home...yeah...only 1 more trip to LA and a trip to Vegas left this week...then I'm parking my butt at HOME for a while!

I have my schedule situation for the summer classes worked out.... It took a while explaning my situation with professors and the registrars office to get everything figured out! I'm glad that ordeal is over. I have 8 credits over the summer and 12 in the fall. I know 8 summer credits is alot, but that is the ONLY option for those classes....I can't take those classes in the fall because of scheduling conflicts.... oh joy. But I hope to graduate in May 05! Dang, that's coming really quickly! I know so many people that are graduating in May.... a bunch of people from work :) I'm not sure where I am going afterwards, but I'm hoping Madison to finish up on the Meteorology degree. It can't be Graduate right now, because I don't have the grades for that. I have a BC average, and I'm satisfied with that right now. (approx 2.75).

The other Shannon... good luck with the fires, hope they dont' come your way.
