I was more concerned about 800 being terrorism than 587. And then there was that Egyptian one - I think they determined that the pilot just flew it into the ground on a personal suicide mission.

Anyway, things are looking better for this one.

LOL. I was waiting for somebody to comment on that. 9/11 taught everyone to get out ASAP.

:D Now, that is a miracle for sure. When I first saw that, I thought people must have died. Hope the injured ones will get well too.

Absolutely amazing, but not so surprising given it didn't plow into the ground or breakup in mid-air.

I meant I thought 587 was terrorism before anything was known... plane crash+NYC+2 months after 9/11=major red flags.

Yes... Egyptair 990 was a personal suicide mission. I watched a documentary on that one. :grr:

990 was a huge diplomatic incident. I remember that well. Egypt refused to believe one of it's citizens could do that. Well...any country in the world could have a pilot do that :grrr:

I wouldn't say that...

Examples-
Northwest flight 1482
Phillippine Airlines EI-BZG incident
Air Canada flight 797
Saudi Arabian flight 163
ASA flight 529

I have been wondering for years whether the A340 or 777 would have a fatal accident first...looks like I will have to keep on wondering, and I'm glad! Another no fatality accident! :D

It is pretty amazing... given they can hold the most people(behind the 747 and the soon-to-be A380)

If the A-380 ever crashes, it'll be a catastrophe unlike any other.

Some of the configurations can hold up to 600 people I believe(someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I'd love to fly on it though... of course, I still need to fly on a 747, 777, A340 first.

Are there any estimates on how long it would take to evacuate the A-380???

This is the deadliest airline accident BTW... a collision between 2 747's(absolute nightmare)

583 killed in the Canary Islands in 1977.

Well, in order to fly in the US they'll have to meet the FAA's requirements: evacuation of a full aircraft in 90 seconds or less.

WOW... better have a lot of exits.

I do believe they will be flying into the U.S... especially JFK and LAX.
