LOST 3.18 FAQ

What’s it called?
“D.O.C.”

Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz (“Tricia Tanaka is Dead,” “Exposé”).

What does ABC say?
“After discovering that all of ‘The Others'’ pregnant women died before giving birth on the island, an extremely reticent Sun allows Juliet to examine her -- and uncovers the identity of the unborn child's father. Meanwhile, Desmond allows an unlikely nemesis to help save the life of a new, mysterious island inhabitant. Guest starring are Byron Chung as Mr. Paik, Andrew Divoff as Mikhail, Marsha Thomason as (this name is a spoiler until it is told to us in an ep), John Shin as Mr. Kwon, Alexis Rhee as older woman, Esmond Chung as Paik's associate and Jean Chung as Paik's secretary.”

How did last week’s promo go?
ANNOUNCER: Next Wednesday. A stranger has fallen from the sky.
HURLEY: What if this is a rescue? What if she came for us?
ANNOUNCER: But the promise of rescue is only the beginning. And the fate of this survivor …
SUN: What happens to pregnant women on this island??
ANNOUNCER: … will be revealed. There are only four episodes left until the season finale. And you can’t miss one.
SUN: I lose either way.
ANNOUNCER: An all-new “Lost.” Next Wednesday at ten, nine central, only on ABC.

(NOTE: DETAILED SPOILERS)

[spoil]
What’s D.O.C. stand for?
Date of conception.

Is Hurley the daddy of Sun’s fetus? Is that why Hurley gave Jin the big “thumbs up”?
What? Get out of my office!!

Does Juliet determine the baby’s parentage? Does she have a gene-analyzer in her purse?
Juliet’s purse contains no gene analyzing equipment.

Parachute-girl (this name is a spoiler until it is told to us in an ep) seems to know Desmond. Does he know her?
“I’ve never seen her before in my life,” claims Desmond.

Is (this name is a spoiler until it is told to us in an ep) the “new, mysterious island inhabitant”? Does she remain mysterious because she lapses into unconsciousness?
She’s in and out of consciousness, thanks to a tree-punctured lung. Also, she’s not speaking English.

(this name is a spoiler until it is told to us in an ep) speaks no English?
(this name is a spoiler until it is told to us in an ep) speaks Italian, Chinese and Spanish. (So there was a good reason for Desmond to bring Hurley along after all!)

Andrew Divoff is back! Is wily one-eyed Ukranian Mikhail the unlikely nemesis Desmond allows to save (this name is a spoiler until it is told to us in an ep)’s life?
He is.

How is Mikhail alive? Wasn’t he microwaved to death by The Others’ invisible fence? Is it true no one on the island can stay dead and that Eko is now sharing cocktails in the dolphin tank with Shannon, Nikki, Goodwin, Arzt and Christian Shephard?
ABC says Sun discovers that all of The Others’ pregnant women died before giving birth on the island. Would ABC lie to you?

Is Mikhail secretly another of The Others’ many doctors?
He claims to have been a field medic with the Soviet army. If true, he appears to have been a pretty good one.

Shades of Chekov and Khan! Kate, Locke and Sayid met Mikhail - but Hurley, Jin, Charlie and Desmond not so much. Do they even know who Mikhail is?
Kate apparently described him adequately to Charlie, Hurley and Sun.

What’s doing with Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Sayid and Claire?
Jack and Kate are relegated to one-scene cameos this week. Sawyer, Sayid and Claire, like Locke and Ben, sit the week out.

Does Charlie die this week?
No.

Does Desmond make another prediction?
No.

What was that batting order again?
3.18 Jin & Sun Kwon
3.19 John Locke
3.20 Benjamin Linus
3.21 Charlie Pace
3.22-23 Jack Shephard

What else is ABC not telling us?
Mikhail speaks Italian!

What’s great?
The many reveals. The fabulous Yunjin Kim (whose character shares the audience’s distrust of Juliet). One of the most moving sets of flashbacks in the series’ history. Mikhail’s respective facedowns with Jin and Charlie. Daniel Dae Kim. Elizabeth Mitchell. John Shin, heart-breaking as Mr. Kwon. “It’s five times that.” “Either way I lose.” “What?”

What’s not so great?
We must pity the fools who bailed on this series.

How does it end, spoiler-boy?
(this name is a spoiler until it is told to us in an ep) gives Hurley the news. [/spoil]Herc’s rating for “Lost” 1.18?
*****.
There will be continuation from last week's Hurley/Charlie/Desmond/Jin's story as the 'B' Plot this week. We won't be waiting 3-4 weeks for continuation like Locke's current storyline. . .

I have also heard that during that showdown, something related to the link I posted will dramatically alter the show

By the end of the season, the losties and others will either be allied against a common pure evil, or the Losties will be exposed to be nothing short of pure evil assisting the rumored second group, who we only saw attack the Tailies on the FIRST night (not the night 12 encounter, but the night 1)

Ok - so....what do y'all make of the girl's statement that they found flight 815 and everyone was dead? My hubby and I looked at each other like, "huh?" My theory is that the Others sent out the info (you know, back when they could contact the outside world) that everyone was dead so that no one would go looking for the plane and find their lovely little island.....

I hate that Juliette is still working for Ben. She seems like she really wants to do the right thing, then she goes and does something despicable like giving him info. grrrr......

I am speculating that they are using the Losties as guinea pigs. If they are "dead" to outside world, then who is going to look for them? These are people not on the "list", therefore not good or they are "less than human". The Others have a problem and right now, Sun and Kate are means to end. I think Ben is manipulating the Losties to maintain control over them. Maybe Ben is afraid of other "incident" or a repeat of the Purge. But since we don't know what the 'incident' was or what happened during the Purge, I can't say for sure. Hopefully, after Episode 20, I'll have better idea.

Tonight: 'The Brig' Locke-centric
[spoil]
"It's a dark hour, punctuated by one of the most, um, twisted Lost deaths ever. A classic Lost set piece makes a comeback."

So, Sawyer was finally able to get some justice for all his years of hatred, though it ticks me off that Locke was using him for his own personal gain.

And what is the deal with everyone saying that everyone on this island is dead? It's pretty obvious that all of our original Losties are all related/connected somehow, which does make you wonder....

Hubby's theory is that this island is like the Bermuda Triangle in a way....it basically takes down anything that flies near it, but it isn't always visible somehow.....

Ahh...all the questions....

The current speculation is that the Hanso Foundation, along with the Widmore family, arranged for the wreckage and bodies of "Flight 815" to be found. The speculation goes on to say that someone in Hanso, Dharma, or maybe a traitor within one of those organizations thought that the Losties and the Fusies would make great guinea pigs for the experiments on the island. Besides, I think they want them dead. What goes on the island, stays on the island. A lot of people want make sure no one comes off that island alive.

The producers have insisted that the island is not puguratory or some afterlife hell. . .

Good episode, liked that there were no flashbacks. I am really hating Kate now. What a squeller. No one should trust her and I cannot wait until Sawyer exposes Julietee.

BREAKING: Lost to end after two more seasons!

ABC is set to announce that Lost will end production after two more seasons.

This is what my E! Online partner in crime Marc Malkin just announced in his column, Planet Gossip.

I know. Breathe, Lost fans. Breathe.

Here's what I can tell you. I just spoke to insiders at ABC and they tell me it's true: The network and producers have reached a decision on an end date and they are expected to announce it in the next two weeks. This is meant to be a good thing, because now the producers finally can start mapping out the remaining episodes and start rolling out some of the major reveals and answers we fans have been waiting for.

I'm also told there are more big changes in store for the show!

According to sources, ABC is planning to push back Lost's return date to January of next year in order to air new episodes back-to-back, and it is also "extremely likely" that Lost will change time slots next season.

Still, the biggest change may be that massive, mind-blowing, cast-related "game-changer" I keep hinting about—to which I am sworn to secrecy, for it is that big—which is revealed in the season finale. (I cannot wait for you to see it.)

Word is, Lost is moving to an earlier hour, which will make at least one fan happy: Josh Holloway's brother. "I do feel like we're in the wrong time slot," Josh told me during my recent trek to the set in Hawaii. "Most definitely too late, because I lost my own brother. He’s like, 'Dude, I got to get to work in the morning!' I’m just going to say it. Let’s move it back to 9 o’clock or 8 o’clock."

Let it be said that Josh Holloway and his brother have mad pull.

So, what do you all think of saying goodbye to Lost in only two more seasons? And, more important, who needs a hug? 'Cause I could sure use one...

I predict it will end on the 108th episode which will be the 108th day on the island. . .

Just some quick notes... the show is defintely NOT returning til January and it will not be airing Wednesday at 10 when it does, in fact, it may change nights all together if ABC's speculated highly aggressive Wednesday works(all new shows, including the Grey's spinoff at 9 as an anchor). It's a huge risk though, but Wednesday right now IS a disaster, and it has brought down Lost quite a bit. So it can't do any worse.

The finale has more than twice as many deaths as any episode before it. It appears they will have a major focus change next season.

and ending in two seasons is not a shock.

I have mixed emotions about only two more season. While I LOVE this show and love trying to guess everything and simply don't want to see it ever end... hehe... without an end date, I understand it's hard to "fill in the blanks." From what I understand, the producers had a beginning and an end in their minds, and without knowing when it will end, it's hard to know how much you can put between the two. With an end date set, I think we'll get more answers in a timely fashion.

I will be very sad to see it go though. We're already at the end of Season 3 and it seems like it just started in many ways. It definitely doesn't seem like 3 years!

I'm like you guys. I'm not surprised at the 2 more years, and I'm not totally sad about it either. The whole premise of this show is that there is a beginning and an end point with some stories in between. If they were to go more than 2 years, I think they'd be putting in useless filler stories and that would make all the Lost fans mad. They're smart to go ahead and get an end point, and I think y'all are right - we'll finally start getting some answers.

I agree. I am more interested in getting answers and seeing a great story than dragging out the storylines and not getting any reward for watching.

Nope... has to do that you will have wished that Ben was far more ruthless in his means

Well I'm still hanging in there but I want:

1. More island time.

2. Far less flashbacks unless they are going back to just prior to the plane crash (others) or after the plane crash (losties).

3. Answers.

4. No more new characters! If we get many more, I'm about to take my TV in hand and shake it until they come out. Sooooo sick of new characters being introduced and having less time with Sayid, Claire, Charlie, Sun, Jin, Hurley, Rose/Bernard, even the dog.

5. And finally, a clear idea whose side Juliet is on. Viewers have seen her go from one side to the other, many, many times now. Just when you want to believe there's a shred of decency in her still (once there was), she reports back to Ben.

[Coming in at #11.......]

11. LOST (2004-Present)
Created by J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof

A mysterious island that's home to a shape-shifting smoke monster, a weird science project tasked with saving the world, and a secret society of sinister ''Others'' who can't make babies — yes, Lost certainly has its fair share of sci-fi stuff. And yet, like the best examples of the genre, this unfolding saga about plane-crash survivors trapped in a tropical twilight zone doesn't wallow in its genre elements, but uses them to embellish an exploration of identity, community, and reality itself. Coyly sublimating everything from Jules Verne and H.G. Wells to Star Trek and Star Wars, Lost aspires to be an important entertainment for a pop-soaked, soul-searching age. Now, at the risk of missing the point, how about some damn answers?!

POP CULTURE LEGACYBuilding on pioneers The X-Files and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Lost helped to usher in a new era of serialized storytelling and showed Hollywood how cult-pop TV can be leveraged into cashcow franchises. Heroes, say hello to Daddy.

THE BEST BIT The Emmy-winning first season, with its perfect pilot and getting- to-know-you character flashbacks, is an object lesson in capturing the imagination. —Jeff Jensen

Awesome. I heard 2 more but I will take 3.

I just do not want to be introduced to anymore new characters. 3 and that is my limit. Anymore and I'll be mad!
