My mom likes it too but always cooked it for herself as a treat, and same with my mother in law. They never made it for the family because no one but them liked it. I as well don't like it but was never forced to eat it. I can eat a fresh fried gizzard every now and then though.I can also make a mean batch of fried okra, learned well from good ol grandma, all of my kids can't get enough of the stuff.

And a Fried Bologna sandwich isn't too bad, if your hungry!
I'll eat my grits and oatmeal, but you can keep the Cream of Wheat, it's just nasty to look at.
Oh and somebody is cooking their Meatloaf's the wrong way......My husband and son beg me to make Meatloaf cause they can't wait till the next day to eat a Meatloaf sandwich! Use the McCormick meatloaf mix and it's perfect. Or just add an egg, smashed up crackers, salt, pepper, and some Lea & Perrians....its perfect! I do put ketchup in and on it. You gotta take it out of the dish or drain the grease off or it does get nasty.

Maybe we should write a cook book

OMG, that sounds awesome. I used to be just a grits kinda girl but FIL is from Pennsylvania and hubby grew up on it. I finally cooked it and I love it, all my kids do too, gotta make it with milk not water though. And that stuff will turn into concrete if you let it sit.Anything fried up in some bacon grease has to be good.

The only 2 things that stick out in my head were Lima Beans....still hate them, and peas........I can handle those now. They would make me sit at the table for what seemed like an hour till I ate at least half of them. I remeber almost puking a few times.I do not do that to my kids now. I make them at least try whatever it is, but never force them to eat it

scalloped potatoes, they still activate my gag reflex
brussels sprouts
carrots ( i am still not crazy about them)
lamb

My Mom made mush -- which was a cornmeal blend that she would chill overnight. She'd slice it up and fry it in oil then serve it with butter and maple syrup. OMG it was Yummy.
