He owns a charity-based ranch.

Ahh, so its promotional? To raise money and awareness for the ranch?

No, I'm just saying that you questioned whether he was going to round up cattle. I replied that he has a ranch. I guess it's part of his persona.

From what I remember, the ranch is for kids with cancer or parents who lose a child to SIDS.

My kids were home for Easter and I hadn't watched TV for quite some time. I had TV on during the news conference with the team. All I heard was we send out our condolences to the parents of the team members. I looked at my son-in-law and asked "Did someone get killed?" He told me the whole story. I was amazed at such a fuss being raised. Regit, I agree with you 100%!!

Imus was NOT even targeting blacks

There are WHITE members of the Rutgers team and BLACK members of the Tennessee team

Has this country become this stupid that we CANNOT see that he was also calling whites the same thing, and he also called blacks cute, along with the rest fo the Tennessee team

I took his comments as meaning he did not find women covered in tatoos attractive, not as a rascist joke

Yes, the nation's population has become stupid. It happened a long, long time ago. Probably Teddy Roosevelt's fault. I think the jury is still out on that.

Imus' sidekick (I forgot his name) should be the one really catching hell. Immediately after Imus made his comment, the other guy referred to them by a viciously racist term.

Imus didn't disagree with him, so they were clearly referring to the fact that the players were black. To say the conversation was not about race is incorrect.

That was a pretty clear reference to a movie.

EXACTLY!!! That would happen even if it was done in jest!!!

I haven't followed this in a detailed way. But, imo, there is no reason whatsoever for
ANY person to use those terms in ANY CONVERSATION

Exactly. Our culture is not so much about "doing the right thing" as it is "how much can you get away with."

Anyone who likes to push the limits is going to go over the limit sooner or later. At that point either the limit gets moved or the offender gets smacked down. Now Imus has been a part of both.

Man these must really be SLOOOW news days if we're so fixated on a bad joke cracked by an irrelevant, bad shock jock.

Yes what he said was totally uncalled for and I do think he deserved his punishment, but he as already apologized and his apology has been accepted and yet there's still a "BREAKING NEWS!!!" graphic on the bottom of every major news channel. That's all I've heard the past 3 days is Imus and the Duke boys, back to back over and over again. Is there really nothing else going on in the world to talk about?

I'd rather see something like this be "breaking news" than something tragic. I'll take slow news days anyday.

I agree, this country is just too sensitive anymore.

That's what I thought too. Sadly, Derek, you are right, stupidity has overtaken this great nation. It's like the world of Idiocracy. You should see that movie. People are too overtly sensitive. How did this even came????????? Funny thing is, Imus has done this many times before and people just ignored it. It must be a slow news day.

Actually, anyone with a brain could see that he deserved everything he got  This isn't the first time that he's done this, alhough it surprises me that with him fired, that Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter are still allowed to be on the air.
