Another update from Dennis
Dear Friends,
Sorry for the delay of updates but here we go, I am VERY cautious with the following statements.
As of today, Sunday 15 January, my father *appears* to have come out of it *somewhat*, still teetering on the edge of this world and the other side. He has regained his senses, he knows where he is, he knows everyone around him (all 17 of us as of late yesterday) and is back to eating (a mouse eats more but non the less eating) he's drinking fluids again (he asked for a beer). However we must bear in mind, he IS still in congestive heart failure, his kidney function is minimal at the VERY best, lungs are still about 1/2 full of fluid.
All of this has baffled my step mother, the Hospice Nurse "AND" the doctor at RTA Hospice......the doctor was over at the house yesterday for a brief moment for a follow up. To the BEST of their knowledge, an assumption on their part, he suffered a concussion, swelling of the brain stem and brain as of a result of the fall a week ago Friday. He's still VERY feeble, unable to walk without assistance but he CAN left a 12oz. bottle of MGD :0).
I have resumed my normal everyday routine once again, I'm back at work tomorrow (NO......I don't get Martin Luther King Day off {gonna celebrate with a watermelon}) SORRY "LOL!"
With that said, "Thank you!" from the bottom of my heart and my family, your continued prayers and thoughts are VERY MUCHLY appreciated and now it's back to day to day.................

Thank you ALL for your prayers, you have NO IDEA
how MUCH this means to me, NO IDEA!! I am
dumbfounded at the OUT POURING
of the prayers I've got coming from
ALL over the U.S.!! Thank YOU!
As of today, Monday 16 Jan. my
father is still hanging on. As I said in one
of my emails his kidneys are now almost
totally shut down so it's only a matter of time!
Death is a funny thing........I watched my
mother suffer DEARLY for 2 years with
cancer and NUMEROUS other
problems, it was a horrible death, I was
afraid of death and now with my father,
I'm not afraid, it's peaceful death, he's
seeing people and talking to people
from his past and mine. He's drifting in
and out of concesness (sp) and has
very brief moments of being lucid........
so we all know it's a matter of time.
Ed.......I think that that's what's
been bothering me, the fact that, as you
said so well, that we next in line to
"Cross over"......
Once again folks, Thanks a MILLION
for you continuing prayers

Well folks, it's been 2 weeks since my fathers fall and he's still hangin' on........I don't how the man musters the strength to battle the kidney failure, his lungs are now 3/4's full of fluid which has GOT to be a terrible thing, you can't breath and you feel like your suffocating.
On top of everything else, he now has "Sundowners Syndrome", when the sun goes down he goes off the deep end, cursing, swinging at people etc.....it's a terrible thing to witness, the solution and it's a last ditch effort and part of the "Comfort Care" Hospice offers is Thorazine, it's the strongest sedative made period, once you administer it it's basicly the end. So with that said, I ask for the continued prayers.

Hey Dennis, I just finished a battle with my grandmother passing and Sundowners...its a terrible thing to behold when nighttime comes. They vent anger at the only people around and those are the ones that usually care about them most. I feel your pain and I am praying for ya!
