Re: help me out here Shan...

TLC wrote:Miss Mary- nothing from Cindy here either... I *do* remember what Graham is talking about tho * giggles * Was a row and a half ( brit speak) they got past it tho pretty quickly. lol Hes a pretty forgiving soul, one of the things I like best about him *smiles*

My first day in the chat room was wild- lol Shan was already there, her and Grimmy(sizzle), I am thinking Rat***(Scott) was there too, not sure now.... They had been drinking * snort* Course Shan had reason to, they had just either been thru a bad flood or a hurricane and had lost alot of belongings...I remember her saying something about a camper floating away. I had come in to see if anyone knew when it was gunna rain and Shan having too much of the stuff told me we could have hers.

We had ben under drought conditions for most of the summer... John was already there..he said hello and was very nice to the newcomer. He introduced me to Bonnie, I think she was in Virginia? She got a new job and wasn't there long..... It all just took off from there....They were very welcoming and we all got to be good friends. Usually wasn't a day that went by that we didn't talk, that first chance meeting made some really nice friendships...

We had a wonderful bunch of people...a friendly group....Always quick to help or try to make someones day a little better. Miss Mary is right..... Shan, me and E were the first Moderators....and we were *supposed* to keep the topic on weather... but, I was as bad as anyone when I would catch sunny not watching...me and fur even got in trouble once * giggles * You remember that furry?? I would take us on virtual trips, or get going on music or something else, anything but weather! lol Till we found out sunny could watch from the backdoor! DRAT!

Other friends came in the picture just a little bit later, in those first days of chat , there weren't many folks in...but it was a close knit group..wouldn't be unusual to see someone say love ya before they left the room....times change tho and people do too......sometimes folks grew apart just as quickly.

I still count the people I met there as some of the dearest friends I have ever had the honour of meeting..and I dunno where I would be without a certain few. We had some good times in that place... I still miss it to this day.....

Feel free to add what I have forgotten Shanny....tears here-lol ( gawd I am such a SAP!!arrrrgggh! I hate that!!) Just miss seeing my friends, being able to talk to them and know they are ok....thats why Graham's Just Saying Hi was such a wonderful topic...* smiles*

Tracy

It was even more challenging for ALL of us...when the weather was over all seemingly benign ('boring') for any catching headlines on a particular day. Hehe

I credit another wx enthusiast (Steve) from MN...he and I lost contact (for a period of years now)...anyway for him having introduced me to TWC chat room (in October 1999) and ALL the fine peeps there for whom have been some dear and lasting Friendships made since those times! :D Funny it seems that this fella Steve never did become part of TWC chat family or TWC boards...OR Storm2K for that matter.

You're right E! When a storm came up, or a major weather event was happening the place was rocking!

( or when Kristina Abernathy had a scheduled chat-they came outta the woodwork for that one -lol)

Speaking of special TWC employee chats...wish they'd kept them up...even at that newly-revamped chat room! :)

Yes, Kristina...she is one of the more private peeps at TWC for sure!

T and E (never knew you referred to Eric as E before T, LOL),

Goose bump moments reading your recent replies!!!! Makes me miss my chat days and wished I had found you guys earlier.

Never knew you referred to fur as Shanny either, LOL.

We all have our fave pet names for our friends huh? I can't quite get the hang of calling Cyclone, Gray! To me, he'll always just be Cy!!!

You know what you all did for me don't you? You became my personal support group!!! Not that I shared my medical situation with everyone, but you did provide a wonderful, supportive friendship when I really needed it! I think I found soon after my surgeries - late 1999 I want to say? There was one time, it all backfired on me and I felt just terrible about it. I thought I was pm'ing with the real D. And I wasn't. It was a fake D. Would that fake person have been Johnny I ask? I dunno. But here that person started asking about my past cancer and I opened up a bit. Suddenly the fake D started spilling all and in the chat room no less. Not that I was embarrassed to admit I had cancer, but it just wasn't the time and place to be talking about colon cancer! LOL I think I hightailed it outta there and didn't peek back in for a few days. It really flipped me out for a bit. Until I knew who to trust and then if you'll recall, we all had our trick questions lined up. I'd ask you Eric, questions only a true Cincinnatian would know. Such as using the word please for excuse me? LOL But I have to say that black day in chat really freaked me out. I almost said goodbye to all of you!!! Glad I didn't.

I clearly remember logging on to TWC main page. My husband pointed out that they had a website and I should check it out, since I was always interested in wx. Then I noticed hey they have a chat room! So I logged on and used the name Mary, my real name. My kids just about died! Nina looked over my shoulder and declared - Mom, can't you come up with something more original than that? What can I say, I'm boring sometimes.....LOL In time Toalie called me Hail Mary. Nina would say - now that's a better name Mom, with that pre-teen then rolled eye look. But I stuck with Mary. Mary was taken here so I became Miss Mary, as I've explained many times - T's nic for me.

So there's my chat history. I'm not sure who I met first but it's between Eric, Tracy and Angel. All 3 of you were there from the start and so nice to me. I was leary of D after that bad day, but T kept telling me - the real D is so nice! I wanted to say - okay, sure she is.....LOL I know she was, just kidding.

Mary,

I remember the day when you mentioned your home city...and I about left my computer chair w/ all the excitement just to know someone from where I grew up was a part of our TWC chat/site family and now Storm2K, also!! :D It was great fun to PM w/ you about our beloved Reds and other Cincy stories since Sunny was monitoring the main chat floor on trying to keep it to wx which we ALL at times had trouble staying on track of! :)

Hopefully...just hopefully sometime if my folks and I can take a period of days back up to OH it'd be great to meet you, Jim, Nina, Laura...Tracy, CincySun Steve, polarbear Nick and therock Jeremy! :D

We could plan a rendevzous place to have a meal and do some other fun activities around the Queen City! :)

Eric

PS: This year we won't be getting up that way...have a townhouse move transition, etc.,...but one of these springs or summers, hopefully! :D

Hi Linda,

I've seen some posts from him mostly in the US Weather Forum...also occasionally in the Winter Weather one. :)

I forgot all about Dreamy! Now there was a nice lady.... least the real one anyways....hee hee the questions we used to ask and the signs we had for each other, hilarious!

Hey!!!who was the lady in Chicago... OH!!! Now I remember!! hobbes! Wonder what ever happened to her...she disappeared before chat closed..... You know E, you were talking about OCM chats, weren't those great!? I still never got over the fact that Angelhorns got to talk to John Hope-lol ( man I was soo jealous...I loved that guy, he was the BEST)

We had Carl Parker, Mike Seidel, Warren J Madden(wjm-lol) One night Dave Schwartz(sp), uhm * thinks * Kristen Dodd...gosh, who were the others guys?? My brain is in flashback mode lol

Tracy

PS: Oh , about Miss Mary....The way I figured it, Dallas had Miss Ellie...we needed a Miss Mary .... so glad the name stuck...she was such an important part of our chatroom while it was open, this lady has such a huge heart.... thought it very fitting.

Miss Mary sure is fitting Tracy, since I was a diehard Dallas fan!!! And you didn't even know that before you nicknamed me that! And no I don't drive a white VW convertible....LOL I was proud to be thought of 'in a Miss Ellie kind of way'!

Hobbes.....I remember her!

And yes I think Kristin Dobbs was in our chat room, she was quite nice. I think I told her I thought it was neat when she'd use her ruler to measure the snow. Just like we do here at home - a simple wooden school type ruler!

And Eric, it would be neat to meet you someday. I could round up all our Queen City (Cincinnati's nic) friends.

I have noticed posts from polarbear here. He seems to prefer weather related forums. That's fine, nothing wrong with that. He used to send me weather updates, via email. I think I forgot to give him my new email addy - oops..... :-(

interesting topic.....I find myself knowing just a little bit about so many mentioned.

Here's a memory to share. Remember when a select few of us had access to the "back door" as we called it. Man we had some fun!

THere is one that has been missed and I'm not sure if anybody has spoken to hear. Samantha Cruz, aka Sam_b

The last I knew she was deployed to Iraq..haven't heard back from her since then. I shall drop her an e mail and see what's up.

Remember it well J.... came in handy-lol

Sam did go to Iraq, you're right. She's divorced since we all last saw her and is happily remarried(a newlywed) and from what I understand is supposed to be moving back up North...( where she is from) She's doing great, but drop her an email, she will be glad to hear from an old friend :)

I remember Samantha! I thought of her a few times as we'd pray for my niece's husband, stationed also in Iraq last year. I'm so happy she made it back okay. Anyone have her email addy? We should invite her to join us here.

j, I remember hearing about this 'infamous' back door.....elaborate please?!!! It's not as if anyone is going to use that door today, it's been padlocked for a long time. ;-) I would think you can give away secrets now!

Welllll, j, you need to go in that door again and say - hey, we miss our chat room!!! And then that will do it, TWC will open a new chat room.....and do away with Storm Stories, getting back to wx and all will be well again.

What dream world am I living in? LOL Been breathing paint fumes all day - priming walls and ceiling today in our basement. That's my excuse. It's been fun checking this topic on my breaks though! Think I can paint and post, at the same time? he he

Well, S2K is our home now. We have a chat room. Maybe we could get them all to join here and we can have a reunion in the S2K chat? Sounds like a plan to me.

T - I think today makes an all time record, you've posted a lot today!!! I need to count your posts.....no turning back now, you will post here daily (I'm hypnotizing you, LOL). I remember when you booted Carl. I missed his on-air reference about it though. It is a good thing he has a sense of humor.

Linda, you're right, we do have a new chat room right here, at our new wx home. I didn't mean to take away from what S2K has to offer now. Sometimes I just wish TWC would wake up!
