You will never, never see me write it that way. It is an insult to Jesus CHRIST. Sorry if I offend anyone with that statement, but I just cannot tolerate the use of that way of refering to the celebration of the birth of CHRIST.

I agree with you there, although Snopes has an interesting take on the issue. http://www.snopes.com/holidays/christmas/xmasabbr.asp

But like it says at the bottom, it doesn't mean we don't have a right to feel slighted when people fail to use His name and the full word to represent the celebration of His birth.

Thanks Duck, I feel better about it now, but still prefer to use the full name. I will not, however, hold it against anyone anymore if they choose to use the shortened version.

although.....how do we know that everything that is published on Snopes.com is correct....Hmmmmmmm things to ponder. Does snopes have an article on wether we can believe snopes??

i too think christmas has gotten out of hand. each year i pick a child that will get nothing and ask for thier wish list, toys , clothers ect. last year my family and i help a family of 4. i believe in giving and not recieving. christmas is a time of family and celibrating (sp) the birth of christ. letting my kids know that christmas is not a time of just getting presents, but the birth of Jesus. i want this to be a fun time for them and we have a ball. this is a time to help ppl and to be nice to all. this to me is the best time of year. but i still know i have my faults, with the gift buying.

Stormy, you are right, it is so important to impart to our children the focus of Christmas...

It is was so sweet, our kids at childrens church recently had a happy birthday Jesus party... They brought gifts for a local crisis pregnancy center... Just to see them enjoying the act of giving with such open hearts was a wonderful event.
